Great staff, great views, but not good for business travelers or those with any type of mobility problems - there are no elevators, only steps and no desk. It is smack in the center of a commercial warehouse area and very difficult for taxi drivers to locate because they're not expecting to find a hotel in that area. Also the entry way is an ordinary looking doorway so it is easily missed. The decor is early NYC loft with all the disadvantages of same. The bathroom and the shower are divided by a sliding door and both are on the small side. That sliding door arrangement would prove awkward for any people traveling together who have privacy issues.
On the other hand, it is great for younger people or couples on holiday. The cuisine is outstanding and the staff is super nice and helpful. It is very convenient to three of the key tourism sites - Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Royal Palace, but it isn't convenient to the BTS or most of the rest of the city. The restaurant provides great views of the river and at night, the lights and passing boats make for very romantic dining. And the menu is interesting with innovative approaches to many dishes and the results are excellent.
Clean and convenient hotel. Lovely and accommodating general manager, Mr Klaus.
Decent breakfast buffet and good free shuttle to night market and central pier.
No hesitation in recommending this hotel for a short stay.
Just be aware if you need Internet regularly as the connection is quite poor and a little frustrating.
Great boutique hotel near Khao San Road.
Rooms are nice, the bed is the comfiest I've slept in for a long time. We had a room that looks out onto the street but did not hear a thing with the doors shut.
The pool area is a nice tranquil area where can really unwind from the pace of Bangkok.
The food is amazing, everything we had was wonderful.
The staff, as in any half decent hotel in Thailand to be fair, are very attentive, friendly and wanting to please.
I wouldn't normally return to a hotel and would try somewhere different but I think I'll make an exception with Riva Surya.
Water taxis glide against a glittering backdrop of temples and office towers on the modern, yet traditional Bangkok Riverside. Posh hotels offer nightclubs and rooftop dining, while floating restaurants on the Chao Phraya River look out on Wat Arun and the golden spires of The Grand Palace. Visit for Songkran in early-April when Thai New Year revelers flood the streets for a 3-day water fight.
