Famous for its seafaring tradition, Andros Island is the northernmost island of the Cyclades and has some stunning landscape to explore. Its lush vegetation makes Andros Island perfect for hiking adventures as well as tranquil beach stays. If you’re interested in culture, there’s also a wealth of museums and historical attractions on Andros.
Also known as the gateway to the Aegean Sea, Andros has an impressive main town. Hora or Andros Town is full of Neo-classical mansions, tree-lined squares and some fascinating museums, including the Museum of Modern Art.
Further afield, visit Palaiopoli on the west coast. This is the ancient town of Andros and has spectacular panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. Nearby find the prehistoric settlement of Plaka. Not far from here you can also visit the Cyclades Olive Museum in the village of Pitrofos. This provides a fascinating insight into traditional olive oil production techniques.
For hiking tours enjoy a scenic walk from the village of Fallika to Panachrantos Monastery. This vast byzantine building is a major religious monument.

Batsi Beach is another popular beach and is the place to head if you want to take a boat excursion. To explore locations off the beaten track, take a boat trip from Andros Town to Achla Beach. This is one of the most spectacular beaches in the Cyclades. There are also many secluded beaches to explore to the north of the island.
