"The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. Shower head started dripping at 5am. Whilst they do not offer early check-in, a little more effort could have been made as we'd arrived on a long haul flight and wanted to rest."

"I stayed at the Great Danes Hotel in Maidstone and was extremely disappointed. On arrival, the reception desk was completely unstaffed, and after a long wait the check‑in was rushed with no information about the leisure facilities and only vague directions to my room. The first room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, with stained, worn curtains. I requested a room change and was initially told it wasn’t possible, though another room was eventually offered. The leisure facilities were dated, poorly supervised, and the shower area had visible black mould. Dinner was acceptable, but service was slow and staff seemed undertrained. Basic questions about bar options became unnecessarily long exchanges because staff didn’t know what was stocked. Returning to the room, I noticed a damp smell and clear signs of neglect: cracked plaster, dirty curtains, sticky furniture, peeling wallpaper, and visible mould and damp near the door. The carpet also looked unhoovered. The next morning, I discovered the shower had no showerhead at all—just an open pipe, making it unusable."

"The staff was wonderful. Just one person handling reception, bar, and dining. So way understaffed. Very outdated facility. Bathroom sink didn’t barely drain. Felt as the space wasn’t clean."

"I booked the Delux manor room (£250+) for my mum's 70th birthday but it was terrible. Coffee machine was dirty, kettle was not clean and was too small, mould around the window, mould and damp marks on the ceiling in the room and in the bathroom. Tom was accommodating on the phone prior to staying, restaurant staff were very slow serving but were friendly and James (duty manager) promised a full refund after my complaint about the mould and the fact it caused my asthma to flare up causing me to take my reliever through the night and the week after the stay.. 2 weeks later I still have had no refund and will escalate it further as selling a room in that condition is unacceptable to customers health. Photos to prove all of the above. Price does not include swimming pool use unlike other hotels. A very disappointing stay all round."

"Great hotel in the heart of Canterbury. Had a cot set up for us on arrival. Bed really comfy and shower great. Breakfast was excellent, highlight being the waffle machines. Parking wasn’t an issue for us as we used the park and ride which took 5 minutes and was a 5 minute walk to the hotel so really convenient and only £4 a day vs £25 a night if parking in the city. Staff were all lovely. Loved how they respected history when building the hotel with the ground window in the lobby showing the theatre ruins below. Would definitely stay again on another trip to Canterbury."

"My wife and I had a wonderful stay at The Falstaff Hotel. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained throughout our visit. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of fresh and tasty options each morning. Our favorite breakfast option was the avocado toast with perfectly well-done eggs — absolutely delicious and a great start to the day. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We would happily stay here again and definitely recommend it to others."
