"Lovely hotel, centrally located in the heart of Ross on Wye. Beautiful old bar and restaurant areas with a great mix of grand and cosy areas. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious - would definitely recommend. The parking area to the rear is also a positive, with electric charging available in 2 of the spaces. Being a very old building, it does have some creaks and squeaks which is part of the character. The ensuite bathroom could have been more modern, but the shower was good and everything was clean and working properly; no complaints given the price. Would visit again if returning to Ross on Wye."
The Cottage in the Wood

"We recently stayed at The Cottage in the Wood in the Malverns and, overall, had an enjoyable stay. The setting is beautiful and the hotel has a lovely atmosphere, but there were a couple of aspects of our experience that I found disappointing. Before our stay, I tried to book dinner in the hotel restaurant, only to be told that they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate us. As hotel guests, I found this rather surprising, particularly as dining is clearly an important part of the experience offered by the hotel. I called back to explain my concerns and, to their credit, they did manage to find us a table. However, we were told that we had to dine at 6pm, which felt unnecessarily early. What was particularly frustrating was that, during our meal, the restaurant appeared far from full, and it seemed there would have been no difficulty accommodating us at a later time. I also have to mention the coffee, which unfortunately was very poor on both occasions we had it — after dinner and again at breakfast. For a hotel of this standard, I would expect considerably better-quality coffee, particularly at breakfast. I appreciate that restaurants need to manage bookings and staffing, but I do feel that hotel guests should be given reasonable consideration when it comes to dining arrangements. The fact that we were initially told there was no availability, only to find that there appeared to be plenty of space when we actually ate,"

"Staff very helpful, food okay, little bit hard getting to my room due to old building, and I have been ill 🤒 climbing stairs struggled, but I had a nice stay , enjoyed the breakfast,"

"We stayed at the hotel for one night. Clean room and nice spaces bathroom. It's close by shops and Abbey which is beautiful. We had a peaceful sleep. Highly recommended this hotel to everyone"

"It was fantastic locale if you like to hike!! You are across the street from the carpark of the British Camp Trail....great hiking up the hills. If you want a cute area to stay...get to Great Malvern-- and take in the beauty....all while staying in a neat hotel, with a nice restaurant. This would be your place. Breakfast is included---and greatly welcomed. Of note...there is not a fridge, microwave in your room. We loved the place. Highly recommended."
