"Nice hotel with fab views over the Severn estuary."
Nice hotel with friendly staff and good food. Rooms were clean and the bathroom had recently been refurbed and was excellent. The room however had inadequate lighting which made ladies making up was a challenge. Overall apleasant one night stay and would come again

"A Romantic Valentines"
The staff at the Celtic Guest House is truly wonderful and romantic. They provide a lovely little breakfast and the staff are more than happy to talk to you and give you suggestions on what to do. They recommended the Golden Lion pub in Magor, which they booked for us as it is owned by the owner of the Celtic Guest House. Its a lovely pub. As it was valentines they had some little extras at the hotel, petals on the bed and bucks-fizz at breakfast.

"Lovely hotel with potential to be 5*"
Several key things not quite 5*. It's very expensive so you expect everything to be perfect, no exceptions. Room was not fully equipped with all that should be there, pool spas not all working, restaurant was cold, breakfast very overcooked including rock hard bacon, sausages and eggs, transport around the resort not adequately explained, parking metre not working nor was there a sign telling you this although hotel staff seemed to know all about it.

"Average"
Expected a bit more from a 4* hotel. Especially from the staff. In middle of night had go outside my room cause there were people shouting. We could hear people talking almost like if they were inside our room. Children running and knocking at the door. Every morning no one from reception asked how has it been our stay if was everything alright. Even from the restaurant. Maybe I created false expectations but I couldnt expect less from a 4* hotel. Also our room was a bit dusty.

"Great hotel - Excellent food."
Stayed one night when the hotel was full. The staff were very welcoming and helpful (although one female member of the management was rather brusque and took staff away from the task of serving guests at a very busy time). We had a lovely stay and will certainly return.

In general it was pleasant, didn't get much sleep as outside our window there was a loud banging noise all night, the breakfast was ok but it was a bit cold.

"Loads of hot water never ran out. "
Yes, the rooms are a little tired and the grouting around some of the bathroom tiles is not pristine but this hotel is great after days out walking Pen Y Fan and waterfalls. Only drawback for us was only two vegetarian choices ( for evening meals) on the menu, one on the set menu and one on the a la carte menu. These did not change over the three days we were there. so no real choice for vegetarians. Also one of those choices had cheese so even less good if you are vegan. When we asked the friendly and helpful waitress if they could do anything else, the reply was "We can do it without the cheese," great but the dish was basically pasta with blue cheese. We didn't fancy just a plate of pasta.
