I have been traveling to Europe for the last 30 years but this is the first time I have been to Zurich and Swissotel's staff, service, amenities, cleanliness and location helped to make my stay in Zurich even better than I had hoped for. All staff can easily and fluently switch between English and German (Swiss) with the greatest of ease, anything I asked of them was never too much and they were always willing to know more for everyone. The restaurant serves excellent meals throughout the day, breakfast was superior to all other places I have stayed (not free but worth paying for).
The swimming pool and spa area are located on the 32 floor with magnificent views of the valley. sadly there is no view of the lake or river, but still a great view.
The facility is very clean and modern feeling, the rooms were excellent and size was perfect (NOTE: not American oversized).
I would recommend this hotel to everyone, keeping in mind it is a short and easy 5 minute train journey into the city center with Oetliker Banhof (Train Stn) right across the street. The airport is only 5 minutes from the opposite direction of the city center. All transfers are very easy.
Zurich is my new favorite city and my stay at Swissotel definitely contributed to my experience in a very positive way.
I would rate this hotel with 4.5 Stars out of 5, a 4.75 Star rating if it was within walking distance of the city center.
Breakfast was ok but a very cold atmosphere. The room was excellent only the television in the wrong place, far too high up and at the wrong angle. Situation of hotel perfect, plenty of parking and very near shops and trams and buses. Overall for a short stay acceptable/
