"First class small hotel for independent travellers"
If YOU are looking for a hotel free of tour buses and large groups and which IS in a great position for públic transport and where the beds are súper comfortable, then The Lamont is perfect. I normally mark down fairly hard when un happy but I was very relaxed here. The breakfast room and bar at present changing hands but dozens of places nearby

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed. I was checked in unbelievably fast, the staff were all lovely. We were upgraded to a room with an amazing harbour view for free, the bar downstairs has reasonably priced drinks. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in Sydney, some much more expensive, yet this is by far the most pleasant and hassle-free hotel experience I have had in Sydney. I would definitely recommend.
My room was next to an alleyway so lots of noise overnight from people putting out bins. On the other side my room was next to the hotel stairwell so lots of noise from people going up and down. Great location and cheap however.
I was staying with my mother in a Twin room. It was fine and clean but not as large as I hoped due to being with my 90 year old mother. The bath that was also a shower was no good for her and would advise there be rooms with better access for the elderly or disabled, and indeed there may be but I did not think to check when booking. The location was very good for access to the Fish Markets, the Sydney Opera House and to Rose bay, so this was excellent. The $25 a night parking was less appealing but the room itself was discounted as a special with Expedia, so I guess that balanced out. The carpark was easy, though access out to the main road was a little daunting in Sydney traffic. Overall, it is recommended quite strongly, but check the twin room size and disabled access to the shower. Thanks, Michael
I liked the staff. Vishal was very helpful. The location is close to all major places that needs to be seen in Sydney. There are nice places to eat just outside the hotel and a convenient ATM machine. The area is safe.
