(334 reviews) Park Hyatt is the place to stay in Sydney if you want to have the most scenic views of the Opera House, waterfront, and downtown areas. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly every time we had questions or passed by. The breakfasts were divine! The only "ding" we have which is more our pet-peeves is that the room cleaning service is over the top. Every time we left the room and returned, something had been done. Usually we prefer to stave off all this extra "service", as we don't need new soaps or new towels every day. I had actually put everything out where I wanted it the day before leaving and one of the service staff came in and re-arranged all my things. I would prefer my things not be re-ordered or moved. It was very frustrating since I had gotten organized and came back to all in disorder. The service is exceptional but perhaps a little too much so. For those who want it, perhaps there is a way to present a sign for "Make-up my room" or "Do not make-up my room." Otherwise, this is fine-tuning what is a lovely hotel/option at the Sydney waterfront. (1,002 reviews) For the price this hotel underwhelms in every way. In room phone not working and was unable to order in-room dining at 8pm after a long day of travelling. Had to go to the reception desk and give my order in person. One item was completely forgotten. Bathroom needs updating, spa bath cracked and stained. Shower door wouldn't close properly causing water to spill outside of the shower. Twice when I stood at the reception desk to make an enquiry I was attended to very slowly despite no other guests being present the staff was scrolling on his phone. When I enquired about the possibility of paying for a late check out I was "yeah not gonna happen" as the hotel was fully booked. Not being able to do a late check out didn't bother me but the way I was told it wasn't possible was unprofessional and rude. Would not stay here again. (1,003 reviews) The hotel is absolutely fine with really friendly and very accommodating staff (eg storing luggage after check out). The room was fine and clean with a decent en suite, decent air con and a ceiling fan too. My only negative was a mosquito that kept buzzing me during the night, despite the insect screens on the window and door out into the courtyard. There was some noise at night from partygoers nearby (if it hadn’t been for the mosquito I might have slept through it). I didn’t use the available games room or the free coffee during the day, but they were good options for some of the guests. My expectation for the “complimentary breakfast” was fairly low, but I was proved completely wrong by a good variety of hot and cold food which was a good start to the day. The street immediately outside the hotel was a little run down, but a very short walk takes you to the upmarket Cowper Wharf and beyond that are the Botanic Gardens leading to the iconic Circular Quay, so the location is generally good. All in all, a good place to stay, decent rooms and good staff, certainly good value for money and pretty well located for some of Sydney’s highlights.
