An anniversary weekend

Posted 21-Apr-2015
Pros: Apart from being close to the harbour and shops, it has a certain ambience to it.
Cons: n/a
Location: superb location near harbour & shops.
This is the second time we have stayed here and no doubt will come back again at some stage.

needs a refurbishment

Posted 19-Apr-2015
Pros: location and friendly staff
Cons: rubbish free wi-fi, parking charges really annoying given cost, i didn't have breakfast included despite a relatively high price
stayed for 1 night on a trip to torquay to see a relative - fancied staying somewhere a bit nicer and so picked out the Imperial as was a 4*. Its a really nice location with great views across the bay but overall its a tad too expensive for what's on offer as is really in need of some refurbishment and general improvement. Its not that shabby - just not up to what you would expect for the rating and price

Enjoyable stay, staff very friendly and helpful. There was a mix up over a dinner booking, but, it was soon resolved.

Stunning Views from a quiet, convenient location

Posted 02-Mar-2015
Pros: Location, location, location. Chrming staff too.
Cons: Upgrade of the room furnishings. Better organised reception desk.
Location: Short walk to Harbour & town. Directly on the South West Cost path with a simply beautiful walk away to Daddy Hole Plain & Meadfoot.
We had a third floor room with stunning views over the bay. The breakfast room and bar has the same lovely outlook. It's a 10 min walk from the Harbour & 5 mins to a small beach. Delightful. The interiors are a bit jaded and very English Sea Front (not modern) but I forgive them this and more for the warm welcome and comfort all round.

Nice little hotel, room for improvement though!

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Had a long weekend at the imperial for valentines weekend and it was nice, worth the money we paid as part of a package deal, however the rate included a free upgrade of which normally costs £100 per night for the sea view, quite honestly that is atrocious on top of what's already paid so luckily we were upgraded free of charge. The room was very nice, the only issue is the rooms are very dated, we were staying in room 323 and the floors are very very squeaky, I'm young and can sleep through anything, but they were so noisy, waking us up at 7am, it was also hard to sneak to the toilet without waking up my other half as they were super creaky inside the room too. The sheets had some suspicious stains on too but they were changed the following day. Balcony wise, they were not clean, there was twigs, leaves and general clutter out on the balcony, meaning we didn't really spend too much time out there,, which was a shame. Everything else was fab. the staff were pleasant, breakfast entailed good food but on our second morning the waitresses wer swarming round the buffet at 10:40 getting their own breakfasts, when the closing time wasn't until 11, having worked in hotels before, I can say this was unprofessional, the blonde waitress clearly felt she had priority. Other than that the staff were friendly, I would recommend to friends in the future.

Main course in restaurant was excellent (steak) but the starters were very disappointing. Breakfast was extremely good. Restaurant has wonderful panoramic views
