"I must say the size of our suite was impressive. What was more impressive was the cleanliness of the room. Our super king size bed had a supremely comfortable mattress, the room came with a small kitchenette area which we didn't use and plenty of tea and coffee etc and the muffins were a bonus. The bathroom was large and spotless with a great walk-in shower. Towels were fluffy and soft. Sleep quality brilliant and we would recommend this property "

"Overall great stay - it's a lovely location and food is splendid. But we did request to move room after first night due to the noise of a boiler attached to other side of the wall in room 1. The manager made this move very easy, but of course it would be a different story if they had been fully booked."

"Great greeting and help taking our bags to the room which was very comfortable with an amazing view. A small professional and versatile team run this establishment to a very high level and the food was wonderful with a really good breakfast. Only disappointment was over salted linguine. We even joined in the monthly quiz which was great fun. Thanks to all concerned for a great mini break. We loved it. "

"In a venerable building such as this, there are always sure to be minor defects - creaking floorboards above us was one - but that didn't detract from a really nice stay in the spacious Duke room. The staff were excellent - courteous and always helpful - especially the new manager and his wife - and the only real problem was finding and getting into a suitable parking space for a reasonably large family car (BMW 3 series) - in the end, we parked overnight on the road on one occasion. I'm not a swimmer (and had hoped for a jacuzzi - but there isn't one) - but my wife is, though the pool wasn't really deep enough, she said. There were two false fire-alarms at none too convenient times, triggered, we were told by a hair dryer and an over-sensitive alarm sensor. I ngather this is being sorted.... The food was good (Dinner was a little too expensive, we felt) and breakfast was good, apart from the level of some of the background music, which they didn't seem willing, or able, to turn down. A most enjoyable stay, and full marks to a hotel that lays on coffee and mints in the evenings for its guests - lovely to find that after a long day out. We'll hope to return, and thank you to all at the Royal Glen."

"Food was great! Staff were more than lovely! The room was fab, and the view from it was even more fab - what’s not to like??? You can park a few minutes up the hill in the NCP car park. A great place to stay if you want to go fossil-hunting. "
