My wife and i hadn't staryed at this hotel for a few years. The last time we were there we thought it looked a little tired. The owners have clearly spent some serious money refurbishing it and it was very swish. The staff were very efficient and the evening meal was of a very high standard with excellent unobtrusive service. The menu is vey fairly priced and offers a wide range of choice. Breatfast was very relaxed and the "Full Scottish" will sort most people out for the day! In terms of room we had a 4 poster room which was spacious and comfortable. My only slight criticism is that is had potential to be a bit stuffy as. I could not open any of the windows in the room itself. However that is but a mere trifle-we will definately be coming back and. I will bring some friends and golf clubs next time! Finally I suspect that this is a hotel which is probably better for couples and older children than young families although it is well placed as a base for attractions in the. South of Scotland.

This is our third visit to the hotel. The staff are welcoming and we had a room overlooking the front of the hotel, glimpses of the abbey and a good view of the river. The food is well presented and tasty and represents good value for money. We ate in the bistro (bar) where the tables are well spaced giving a feeling of privacy. The room was comfortable, clean and the shower worked well (always a key indicator for the standard of the hotel!)
We shall definitely return to enjoy the walking in the Eildon Hills.
This place was a last minute gem to find! we were pleasantly surprised ( once we found it as it is off the beaten track) felt like a treasure hunt, then relaxed in the stylish decorated comfort of the Coppice , amongst the mature trees and on top of a hill, very relaxing. the hostess recommended a short walk before dark which we followed up and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular views and galloping clydesdale horses... very restful sleep, good matresses and plenty of extras in drinks and biscuits. just right, we found it all very well done in detail, in fact we booked to go again!
Lovely friendly bed and breakfast of a very high standard. We just had a quick overnight when visiting friends but would be a great base for a walking/cycling holiday in the borders. Run by a really nice hardworking couple. Would thoroughly recommend.
