- Magalluf Luxury holidays
Magaluf is located on the Balearic island of Majorca, the largest in the group, and has a vibrant tourism market for visitors from the UK, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia and Russia. It’s only 15 miles from the airport, which means fast transfers on arrival - allowing you to relax in your hotel room, by the pool, or on the beach, as quickly as possible.
Embrace the night in Magaluf
Magaluf is well deserving of its reputation as a party town, with a main strip of restaurants, bars and clubs that will keep you partying throughout the night until dawn. Punta Balena is the main drag for clubs and bars, and on any given night in the summer season, there is a good chance of finding a familiar face or household name playing the resort as a DJ.
A watery challenge in Magaluf Bay
If you are a strong swimmer, you might relish the traditional challenge of swimming out to Black Lizard Island, or ‘Isla de sa Porrassa’ as it is known to natives. The island itself is unmissable, reaching 36m above sea level and some 400m across, and dominating the horizon when you look out from the beach. Its name derives from the island's wildlife, a population of black lizards that will run for cover as you climb out of the waves on to dry land. Although nobody lives there, you are unlikely to be the only tourist facing up to the challenge of swimming out on a sunny summer day, while some people may make the short journey using a boat hired from the beach.
When should I visit Magaluf?
The school summer holidays in July and August see the largest number of tourists head to the resort, and if you want to experience the true atmosphere of Magaluf as a party destination, then this is probably the best time to visit. If you want a slightly quieter stay, visiting during term time is advisable, as families are less likely to be there at this time. Outside of the summer season, Magaluf quickly becomes almost deserted, with only the local permanent population to be seen. Visit in the winter to see this side of the town, when many of the hotels may be closed completely for the off-season.
