Topas Eco Lodge, Sapa

You absolutely cannot beat the location of the Topas Eco Lodge … seriously. Modelled into the mountains of Sapa, the views over the rice paddies are just incredible. There’s also an outdoor infinity pool looking out over the mountains – perfect for the obligatory “look where I am” Instagram shot.

Light and airy rooms, which let in that fresh mountain air, have been carefully designed to blend modern Vietnam with the traditional. Stone baths give the bathrooms real character, while balconies come as standard. Suites and bungalows are also available. This is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for ultimate relaxation in the Vietnamese countryside.

Hoi An Eco Lodge, Hoi An

Located in Hoi An, a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Hoi An Eco Lodge is an oasis of carefully designed calm. After a day or three spent cruising the quaint streets of Hoi An – one of my favourite places in Vietnam – you’ll be happy to retreat back here for the night.

You can choose between tranquil deluxe rooms and suites, complete with sofas and fridges. It’s in a great location right near the river so you won’t have far to go to explore the delights of the historic city. There’s also an on-site restaurant, pool, and two bars to enjoy – and a shuttle to the beautiful beaches of Hoi An, too!

Mai Chau Eco Lodge, Mai Chau

Mai Chau is the home of homestays in Vietnam. It’s where us travellers go if we want to experience the Vietnam of days gone by. Visit here and you can see how water buffalos are used in the fields and sample the rustic way of living in this inspiring part of Vietnam.

The Mai Chau Eco Lodge is luxury eco at its best. There’s a strong Vietnamese vibe here, which can sometimes get lost when hotels “go modern”. Here, dark wood and Vietnamese designs and patterns prevail. There are large rooms with stone walls and colourful soft furnishings, while nice bathrooms, outdoors showers and amazing views from the balconies give the lodge an edge over anywhere else you might’ve seen. There’s also an on-site bar and pool.

Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc is a little island off the coast of Cambodia, and another of my favourite places to visit in Asia. Here you’ll find the stunning Mango Bay Resort, which is tucked away at the end of the Ong Lang Beach.

The rooms at Mango Bay Resort are striking – all muted tones and open plan – and feature balconies that look out to some of the most incredible sunsets I’ve ever seen. You’ll enjoy secluded outdoors showers and bathrooms, and carefully positioned hammocks all around the resort. There are lots of fun things to do on site as well, including eco tours and cookery classes, as well as the opportunity to be pampered at the spa.

Hue Eco Lodge, Hue

You’ll find beautiful rooms with huge windows at the Hue Eco Lodge in Hue, the national capital of Vietnam from 1802 to 1945, which is home to many impressive buildings owned by past emperors. Stay at this lodge and you’ll be a 20-minute drive along the banks of the Perfume River from the incredible Imperial City. Here you’ll find palaces and shrines, as well as the Forbidden Purple City, which was once the Emperor’s home.

Singles, doubles, triples and family rooms are available, complete with lush indoor bathrooms, and some with outdoor showers. All 20 rooms are made from bamboo, wood, rattan and straw, creating a natural oasis with a unique garden home style. The owners are fully dedicated to and engaged in eco and responsible tourism in Hue and the lodge has a beautiful setting on the Perfume River.
