(1,630 reviews) First the good. Staff were generally excellent with a shout out to those in the Don Carlos bar!! Now the bad…my room didn’t have a functioning phone for three days (a safety issue) and only half the TV channels for the entire week. The main pool had a frat house vibe (loud music and partying) which was so very different from the upmarket vibe of the rest of the resort. The quiet pool was small and dirty. Everywhere, including the beach, was a “towels at dawn” situation. The beach was clean and swept regularly. Food was hit or miss. Some really good dishes (perversely often with cold sides) but the buffet was poor compared to other resorts in the area. Service in the restaurants was excellent and the staff were very helpful in providing suggestions for both dishes and drinks. (918 reviews) Wonderful hotel staff, who made our stay feel so special. Jenny was a delightful staff and brightened our day with her positive vibes and cheerful smile. As read on many prior reviews the hotel doesn't look as new as it once did. There are signs of wear and tear and agree some much needed maintenance is definitely required to the hotel to make it truly shine.
