Junior suite was insanely hot (with no air conditioning) as staff didn't use the sun blind. After booking we got an email saying that the kids couldn't use the indoor pool (contrary to the hotels.com app listing showing "Indoor pool" in the Kids Friendly section of the listing). Outdoor pool crowd obviously didn't like children - on both occasions we used the outdoor pool several left shaking their heads. Several things in the room and hallway were broken. Breakfast was as expected for this level but we had literally stacks of plates on our table at one point as nobody removed them. Breakfast staff all looked miserable. The evening restaurant and staff were excellent - would struggle to recommend the hotel but the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Overall, the price/performance ratio, mostly unhelpful staff, and non-child friendly environment made this one not for us.

Beautiful hotel, very welcoming and professional, smiling staff. The room was huge and beautiful, with a sauna on the HUGE balcony! Wow… the only thing I would change is the mattress, it could have been so much sweeter with a memory foam mattress… but no necessarily uncomfortable… Also, pay attention to the office hours of the front desk, after a certain time of day, you cannot reach anyone at the front desk. Just be aware. Otherwise, I highly recommend this lovely place!

This place is gem, beautiful clean rooms with all the amenities and a building with so much character. You just need to walk down the steps to immerse in the beauty of Salzburg. But the best part of the trip was Ulrike, who makes this place run beautifully and she does it with so much joy! She definitely gives the place its vibe by being so welcoming and helpful! Thank you Ulrike, you are a gem and you have made the trip for me personally memorable. Thanks for the recommendations and keep being you!

On the way to Salzburg from Munich, something was wrong with the train that everyone had to get off and figured out our own transportation. Upon arrival at Hotel Stein, my friend and I were hot, exhausted and a bit disheveled. Alexander at the front desk greeted us with ultimate comfort and hospitality. He offered us prosecco (which calmed our nerves) and Mozart chocolates (which cheered our mood significantly), gave us wonderful suggestions of what to do in Salzburg and was just so personable. Over the three days we were there, the most impressive was the professionalism of the staff. The location was superb as well. In the heart of Salzburg, it was easy to walk everywhere but you don’t hear any street noise while inside. Highly recommend!

I have stayed here for the last four years. Each year it has slowly become more expensive with less amazing. This year was the worst and I think it is time to find a new hotel to stay in. The rooms they have put me in become smaller and less useful. This year my room didn’t have a separate shower. I am 67 years old and it was very difficult to step over the tub to wash off. Never mind trying not to fall down once inside the tub. My room created a leak in the entrance way. They said that they had no staff to fix the problem because it was 6pm. There solution was to put a towel on the floor which was later replaced with a plastic bucket. I got zero sleep because of the dripping into the plastic bucket was unbearable. It felt like torture. I don’t understand why they didn’t put me into another room. To add insult to injury. The next morning the fire alarm went off while I was washing myself off in the tub. I found out later that the alarm initiated in my room. The fire detector was on the ceiling right next to the water leak. I don’t know if the water leaking had anything to do with the activation of the fire alarm. I didn’t do anything differently than the previous days that I washed myself off. But they said that the alarm went off because of the steam from the hot water. Again this is supposed to be a luxury hotel. This year I paid for two rooms and I am coming back to Salzburg in December. I am extremely disappointed with my stay and asked to speak with the manager unavailab

Great location. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Very cool vibe. Nice lite breakfast included. Great value. Would definitely stay again.

Boutiquehotel Amadeus was good, but not great. The biggest positive is the wonderful central location, and the rooms are quite large — the larger of our two rooms had plenty of space for a crib. However, the layout was strange: you entered directly into the first room, which was dominated by a very large bed, and then had to walk through that bedroom to reach the larger room. It was also very hot, even with two fans running. Breakfast was extremely basic — essentially yogurt and a few pastries — so we ended up skipping it each morning. The biggest issue for us was access and check-in, particularly for a family arriving by car on a longer road trip. We arrived after 8pm when there was no one at the front desk, which made check-in unnecessarily difficult. Cars cannot normally pull up to the hotel and the parking is a few blocks away, so my husband had to make multiple trips with all of our luggage and the kids. We had read in a review that it was possible to drive up to unload, but the desk agent was unable to get the street barriers to lower using his codes. This experience alone made us regret choosing the hotel. Ultimately, the excellent location and generous room size made the stay work, but I wouldn’t recommend it to friends traveling with children and luggage, primarily because of how difficult it was to check in and get our bags in and out.
