We took bikes too and whilst I wouldn't want to take the kids on bikes on the country roads surrounding it, there was plenty of space for cycling round the grounds themselves - we cycled to the lake and did some pond dipping. "We had a lovely stay at Kingfisher cottage. The grounds of Maesgwynne Mansions (on which this small courtyard of cottages is situated) are lovely; this time of year flowering rhododendrons are a highlight, and a walk around took us past the fishing lake and neighbouring fields with various farm animals. There are fabulous views, and the outdoor swimming pool had a cover enabling us to use it even in early May. very peaceful & highly recommended."
