Convenient metro from main train station to Vysehrad (save $$ avoid taxi). Friendly staff, includes bfast and Internet and air conditioning. Metro runsuntil after midnight so you can see all the sites. We spent 2 nights - could have added one more. Handy corner store right on the block,
fantastic hotel, who's excellent/friendly staff jumps on every request. large clean rooms. we tend to stay in the neighborhood and jump a train or cab to get to the main area. this place is close to train on a beautiful walk along the river without putting up with the noise
Even though the hotel is not located next to the tourist sites, it' just a a few minutes walk to the metro station and 2 stops to the Museum. The hotel is much better decorated and furnished than those Holiday Inns in the US. Food is good and reasonably priced. Room is spacious and clean. Very friendly staff.
Made this trip to look for a musical instrument (which I found, thankfully, in the 11th hour). All I needed was somewhere affordable, basic and conveniently located. I got all three at Beta Pension. I had my own room (tho with 4 bunks total). Free wifi, clean bathroom and shower on the same floor. The tram lets off virtually right in front of the building. There's a friendly bar in the same building on the ground floor. Czech beer is cheaper than water, and probably better for you too. (Warning to whiny non-smokers: it is like a pub should be and allows patrons to light up). Back at the hostel, there's a continental breakfast every morning in the basement from 8 til 10 in the morning (which I did not avail myself to till my last day). All told, a very positive experience; it's not the Waldorf, but I was very happy with the price I paid and what I received in turn.
"Not central but for the comfort it's worth looking"
It was a good experience.. Viktoria was very helpful. If you stay here the best view of the city is at the top of Vysehrad near the cemetary. That is a hidden feature that you must find for yourself, and walk up the hill.
Considered the first settlement of Prague, legend has it that Vysehrad was the seat of the first Czech rulers. On a rocky hill by the city centre, the Vysehrad Castle ruins dominate the area. The fortress offers stunning views and deep casemates, and it is home to the striking St. Martin's Rotunda, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, and the national cemetery, all guarded by the ancient gates.
