"A reasonably nice hotel. Book well ahead as it fills up really fast when something is on and the price doubles. Breakfast is over priced and varies in price depending on whether you book it the night before or on the same day. Which is odd."

The manner in which this situation has been handled strikes me as highly unprofessional. A cancellation at such short notice, despite prior confirmation and completed check-in, suggests a serious failure in your booking management. It is difficult not to conclude that the hotel may have overbooked and attempted to justify this with an inadequate explanation."
