The lighting in our room was poor. An extra lamp maybe by the mirror so you can see what you’re doing would be helpful. The service and staff were excellent. Dining was really good too. Lovely restaurant space. Breakfast is at the neighbouring Malthouse. Whilst food was good service was very poor, the tea/coffee facilities were dreadful. Had to ask for clean cups ( no saucers),only used teaspoons, this whole area looked unclean and let the whole stay down. It really wouldn’t take much to rectify this. Arriving in the room the sky lite windows were all open allowing all dandelion seeds to settle on the surface of the beds . Carpet not vaccines and spiders and cobwebs everywhere . Not had this previously . Breakfast chaotic at the Malthouse but staff were fabulous and the breakfast was fantastic . Homemade pancakes are very tasty. Only negative for me was the whirlpool bath it was dirty in the jets and did not inspire me to use it at all . Room was OK with a traditional feel to it. However still could have done with a little updating without detracting from the original features. Bathroom tired and in desparate need of a proper shower. Bar had good selection of reasonably priced beers and an impressive food menu. We Loved this place . It is in a great location and we had the attic room with a beautiful view over the river. Although the room was a little dated it was exceptionally clean and comfortable and the staff were really helpful. Parking was free which was a bonus a we could leave the car whilst we went exploring the gorgeous village and river walks. Breakfast included was served at the sister pub about 100 yards down the road, the choice was superb with extremely generous helpings. No signal or Wi-Fi in the room. No shower in the room just a bath tub. Skylight in the room which let the light in. Was told kitchen closes at 9.30 went to order at 9 and was told the chef has finished.
