Tredegar House is a grand country mansion from the 17th century Restoration period, noted as one of the most architecturally significant country houses of its time. Set within 90 acres of landscaped gardens, this National Trust property has plenty of charm and beauty to offer those looking for a relaxing day out.

For 500 years, Tredegar House was home to one of the most important Welsh families, the Morgans, later known as Lords Tredegar. The family, who at one time owned 40,000 acres of South Wales, were known for their extravagance. This taste for flamboyance is reflected in the decorations, art collections, furnishings and grand setting of this Grade I-listed red brick mansion, now a popular venue for weddings.

Visitors to Tredegar House today can learn about the history of both the family and the building, as well its beautiful parks, gardens and stables. Three different gardens surround the property and each has its own individual style, while the parkland offers lakeside walks and the hum of Welsh wildlife.

Tredegar House is open daily from March to October and on weekends through the winter months. Various guided tours are available for visitors, exploring the property's art collections, telling stories about the wild parties once thrown by the Morgans, or taking a look behind the scenes of a Restoration-era mansion. Special events and exhibitions are held around the grounds throughout the year, including woodwork shows, folk festivals and conservation days.

Situated on the outskirts of Newport, Tredegar House is easily reached by car via the A48, three miles from the city centre, or by two regular bus services.
