"We had an amazing room. Absolutely beautiful. Dinner was very good. Loved staying in a castle. We were not told at check-in that you had to hang sign on door for housekeeping so room was not made up. We enjoyed our stay though."

"We were here on vacation. The location was great, right by the river. The restaurant was good (they seem to dry-age their beef themselves). Staff very helpful, facility very clean. Only drawback, no elevator (which was only an issue with luggage, but staff offered to carry bags up for us). We'd happily come back."

Loch Ness Clansman Hotel

Loch Ness Clansman Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"This hotel is right across from Loch Ness. Main level is a gift shop and a small print shop, along with bathrooms for the bus groups that arrive for the Jacobite Boat tours, so it does get very busy during the day. Check-in along with the rooms are on the second level and there is a lift. The bar/restaurant are across from the front desk, with large windows over looking Loch Ness. The dinner menu is awesome and so are the breakfast's. Inverness is only 15-20 min up the road way and is a nice city to walk around. I can’t say enough about the Loch Ness Clansmen Hotel along with its staff."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tordarroch?
The best area to stay in Tordarroch is within the Tordarroch Estate itself, particularly in the vicinity of the main lodge and surrounding cottages. This area provides the most convenient access to the estate's activities and amenities. The Tordarroch Estate is set within a sprawling, naturally beautiful landscape of glens, forests, and rivers. The main lodge serves as a central point, often featuring reception, dining facilities, and common areas. Accommodation options range from traditional rooms within the lodge to private, well-appointed cottages dotted across the estate. Many properties offer views of the surrounding countryside and the River Findhorn.Couples looking for a serene and picturesque escape will find the private cottages on the estate particularly appealing. These often come with their own kitchens and living spaces, allowing for a self-catered and intimate experience. You can enjoy quiet walks directly from your doorstep, explore the estate's private fishing beats, or simply relax by a log fire. For families, staying in one of the larger estate cottages provides ample space and privacy. The estate offers numerous outdoor activities suitable for all ages, such as nature trails, wildlife spotting, and access to fishing.
When is the best time to go to Tordarroch?
When planning your trip to Tordarroch, the best times to visit are during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months, avoiding the busiest peak season while still enjoying pleasant weather.Spring is wonderful for its fresh, crisp air and the blooming of wild flowers. The days are getting longer, and the landscapes are particularly green, offering fantastic opportunities for walking and photography without the summer crowds. You'll find many of the local attractions, like the historic Culloden Battlefield and Cawdor Castle, are fully open but less congested.Autumn offers similarly agreeable conditions, with the added beauty of changing leaf colours across the glens and hills. The weather tends to be settled, and the cooler temperatures are ideal for outdoor activities. This season also often coincides with local food and drink festivals, which can add an extra dimension to your visit. While the days are shorter than in summer, the quality of light for photography is exceptional, and you'll experience a more peaceful side of the Highlands. While summer (June to August) brings the warmest weather and longest daylight hours, it's also the busiest and most expensive period. Winter (November to March) can be very cold and wet, with shorter daylight hours and some attractions operating on reduced schedules or closing altogether.
