One of my issues were that on my first night, the hot water just stopped working at night around 1AM. I was unable to take a shower, and there was just no hot water running. There is also no front desk after 12am with the amenities locked up. The default pillow in the room is also a super hard beanbag one, but they offer different ones in the lobby. It was different from my American expectations, but it was also the perfect location and exactly what we needed. The room was small, but clean and the hotel was very efficient and eco conscious. Had to pay 3000 yen in cash for 'service charge' for my 4 night stay. I was too tired to argue and did not ask for receipt. I think I was scammed. This is definitely not the 'city tax'. I stayed at another Super Hotel in Tokyo (Ningyocho) a week later and no additional fees were asked for. Both cases I prepaid for the hotel on this site.
