What a lovely welcoming hotel in the centre of the village. Our dog had his own special treat on arrival of Posh dog wine. This made us all smile. I had let them know it was are anniversary and we also had a lovely surprise in our room. But oh my goodness the food it phenomenal from breakfast to lunch and then dinner WoW! Thank you for making our stay so lovely. We will be back

Had an incredible stay here. The house and surrounding area are stunningly beautiful, and the rooms are very cosy. Loved the amenities provided and the staff were wonderful, down to earth and happy to help with whatever you needed. We booked a room with a conservatory and had an amazing time watching the bats fly in and out of the tree next door.
Breakfast was wonderful, as was the dinner service. I can see why you have so many regular guests!

The CB Inn has the best of a pub in terms of atmosphere and welcome, but the status of a hotel with the quality of the rooms and brilliant cuisine. All the staff were interested and knowledgeable about the food we ordered. The setting is idyllic, looking down the peaceful dale, with walks all around from the doorstep.

Having read all the reviews my friend and I were so excited to be staying for two nights. We thought we would try somewhere different to our favorite place at Bolton Abbey and went with high expectations. Absolutely top class in EVERY respect. Outstanding friendly, helpful, but also kind staff, a real team feel and a team who are clearly happy and proud to work there. Great to have air con in the dining room and also to have options to sit out in the fantastic weather to eat and drink....

Really friendly and helpful owner. Room is perfectly acceptable and in a great location. We stayed with our two year old, there's a little park across the road on the village green which was ideal for him, so great place to stay with children. Plenty of parking all around and you can get meals in pub. Lovely generous breakfast, my only critisicm is breakfast is from 9, which is a little late for us as early risers but understandable as they are working in the pub until late, then up again early...

Fabulous pub. Super modern clean room outside the main pub. Food delicious at dinner and breakfast and simply lovely staff!
What a location just across from the station and in the middle of the 3 peaks.
Outstanding!

The best area to stay in Thornton Rust is within the village itself, particularly around the main road, for easy access to its amenities and the surrounding Yorkshire Dales.
Thornton Rust is a small, quiet village located in the heart of Wensleydale. It's characterised by traditional stone-built cottages and farms, with a few local services dotted along the main thoroughfare. The village offers beautiful views of the dale and is an excellent base for exploring the local countryside.
For couples seeking a tranquil and scenic retreat, Thornton Rust is ideal. You'll find lovely walking paths directly from your doorstep, leading to stunning viewpoints or neighbouring villages.
When is the best time to go to Thornton Rust?
The best time to go to Thornton Rust is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally mild and the Yorkshire Dales are at their most inviting.
This period offers the most favourable conditions for outdoor activities, which are a cornerstone of a visit to this rural part of England. You'll find the countryside green and lush, superb for walking, cycling, or simply enjoying the panoramic views of Wensleydale. The longer daylight hours also mean more time to explore the local area, including nearby villages like Aysgarth with its famous falls, or Hawes, home to a well-known creamery.
Couples looking for a relaxing escape will particularly appreciate the quieter charm of Thornton Rust outside of the peak school holiday weeks in July and August. In late spring and early autumn, the walking trails are less crowded, and the evenings are still pleasant enough for enjoying a meal in a local pub. The area's natural beauty, from wildflowers in May to the changing leaf colours in September, provides a wonderful backdrop for a peaceful break.
For those planning a family holiday, the summer months, especially July and August, are ideal. The warmer weather makes it easier to enjoy outdoor adventures like exploring castles, visiting local farms, or picnicking by a river.
