"We had a lovely two-night stay at this beautiful hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The hotel has been decorated so beautifully, and the new owners have done an amazing job creating such a stylish and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were lovely, comfortable and beautifully presented, and the surrounding area was absolutely beautiful too. We also enjoyed the food, but the breakfast was definitely a highlight it was absolutely amazing! You can really see the care and effort that has gone into making this hotel special. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it. We look forward to returning!"

"This property is clean and well maintained. The plumbing fixtures are all modern and working well. Carlton is a attractive, quiet village with a great pub that serves very good food. The owner is a good communicator and easy to work with. I highly recommend this house."

Country Hideaways | Briar Cottage | Middleham

10/10 Excellent
"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Briar Cottage. It was very well equipped, attractively decorated, clean and tidy. The cottage was great for the morning sun at the front, where I would sit with my cup of tea and watch the horses go to and from the gallops; and then on the rear patio for the evening sun, with a glass of something! There was always plenty of hot water for the washing up (no dishwasher); and the shower. We used the double room and we slept well. The bedlinen and towels were good quality, and we used the single bedroom to store our empty cases and bags. We had enjoyable trips out, by bus, to Ripon and Richmond; the bus stop is really close to the cottage. We also used the bus to go to Leyburn for a trip on the Wensleydale Railway, where the volunteers were very friendly, and the Station Master at Leeming Bar gave a great tour of his house. On our return we had a drink at the Wensleydale Brewery Tap Room before catching the bus back to Middleham. One afternoon we walked to the Cover Bridge Inn and back. The real ales and food were excellent. Comments which may be useful for other visitors: We did wonder, if there were five people staying, whether there would be enough hanging space; and the wardrobes were shallow, so clothes had to be hung at an angle; although there is a small wardrobe with drawers in each room. There is no welcome pack, although a few tea bags, coffee and milk sachets were left. WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN."

Beautiful Grade II listed house with stunning uninterrupted views. Sleeps 8

"We had a fantastic week at this gorgeous property and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. It was exactly as described, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The enclosed garden was a real bonus for our two Cocker Spaniels, who absolutely loved having the space to run around safely. The location is perfect for exploring the local area, with plenty of beautiful walks right from the doorstep, and the village itself is just perfect. We especially enjoyed being able to walk to the local pub after a day out. Before we arrived, there was an issue with one of the kitchen appliances, however this was communicated to us and everything resolved before our arrival, ensuring there was no disruption to our stay. The cottage had all the home from home comforts we could have asked for. We’d happily stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway."
