With its dramatic volcanic landscape, spectacular beaches and wide choice of activities, Lanzarote is a fantastic destination for an action packed adventure. The island’s rugged interior is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, caving and climbing while Lanzarote’s coast offers plenty of opportunities for surfing, diving, kayaking and sailing. Add to that a fantastic choice of restaurants, bars and attractions, and you’ll see there’s plenty to keep you busy in this sun drenched island for the duration of your stay.
Arrecife – The island’s capital, Arrecife is a great destination for a day of retail therapy or an afternoon of sightseeing. Head to Calle Léon y Castillo, the city’s main shopping street, to pick up a bargain, stopping at one of the many bars and restaurants en route to keep you going.
Timanfaya National Park – One of Lanzarote’s biggest attractions, Timanfaya National Park is home to a unique landscape of lava flows, dormant volcanoes and spent cones. Camel rides, bus tours and walking trips are all available in the park, allowing you to discover this spectacular location at your own pace.
Puerto del Carmen – One of the most popular destinations on Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen boasts a vibrant nightlife, great beaches and a choice of activities. Head to the waterfront to explore the resort’s liveliest restaurants and bars.
Playa Blanca – Popular with families, couples and visitors looking to experience a quieter side of Lanzarote, Playa Blanca is home to some of the most beautiful, and secluded, beaches on the island. Head to the Papagayo Beaches for soft, golden sand, turquoise waters and wall-to-wall sunshine.
Thanks to its otherworldly landscape, many of Lanzarote’s most famous attractions come from the natural world. From the volcanoes and lava fields of the Timanfaya National Park to the Jameos del Agua, incredible rock formations created when underground lava tunnels collapsed, exposing the subterranean world to the sky. Another of Lanzarote’s famous natural attractions is the Cueva de los Verdes, a spectacular lava tube that’s home to an underground concert hall. During your time on Lanzarote you can also see The Cactus Garden, a large, landscaped area that’s home to over 1000 plant species, and Castillo de San Gabriel, an imposing 16th century castle located on a tiny islet off of the coast of Lanzarote.
If you’re planning an action packed adventure holiday, Lanzarote has more than enough activities to keep you busy. Thanks to its position in the Atlantic Ocean, the island is a great place for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. The island’s clear waters are also fantastic for diving and snorkelling, with trips available from several dive centres on Lanzarote. Inland, the island’s volcanic landscape offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, caving and mountain biking. For shopping, dining and sightseeing, head to Arrecife, while Puerto del Carmen is home to some of the liveliest bars and clubs on Lanzarote.
