Cardiff Marriott Hotel

"Overall, the location is good. However, getting to the hotel is a challenge for drivers. Due to a GPS error, I took an extra turn and was caught by a camera, resulting in a fine. Later, I spotted the brown "Marriott Hotel" signs on the road, directing me to the hotel. When driving, you don't have time to properly check your surroundings. Be extremely careful when driving! Definitely the best breakfast. Moreover, I had free parking at the hotel. It was extremely hot outside during my trip. The room's built-in air conditioning, despite being set to the lowest possible setting (+18°C), was blowing hot air. Opening the window slightly didn't help, and it was impossible to sleep."

"Very clean hotel but looking a bit tired now, really thinking it needs a bit of a spruce up, upgrade in the rooms. Chipped cabinets, old worn furniture. Quite dated rooms for the park plaza brand. Comfy bed and excellent location so would stay again for this alone, Lovely welcome at check in, asked our plans we said we were dining out and were going to a local food feastival and the guy there gave us two vouchers for complimentary drinks he said “have a drink on us either on the way out or on your way home” which we thought was a lovely touch. Until trying to redeem them at the bar. It does state on the vouchers that the drinks are if you’re dining in the hotel but thought maybe that was an oversight as we’d clearly told the guy at reception our plans. We were planning on having a drink before heading out anyway but it was quite an awkward exchange with the gentleman at the bar who was quite rude and dismissive We were made to feel like we were trying it on/making up what the guy in reception had said. Perhaps reception need some training in this or re wording as there was another couple at the bar under the same impression,"

"This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I genuinely cannot believe this place is meant to be a 4-star hotel. From the outside, it looks quite decent, and having a pool, gym and Starbucks on site gives the impression that it’s going to be a good stay. Unfortunately, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. As soon as we got to the room, it was obvious we’d massively overpaid. The room was unbearably hot, and the window had clearly been left open because there was no air conditioning at all. Instead, there was a tiny fan that was completely useless and just seemed to push hot air around. I complained to the duty manager, who brought a stronger fan, but it barely helped. To make matters worse, there wasn’t even any complimentary tea or coffee in the room, which is the bare minimum you’d expect. We then tried to complain, but got stuck in a ridiculous back and forth between the hotel and Hotels.com, each telling us to take it up with the other. After more than an hour of this, and feeling completely frustrated and let down, we ended up cancelling the booking and getting a refund. I would never stay at a Village Hotel again after this. Really disappointing experience, and nowhere near the standard it claims to be."
