"Food excellent, room small but adequate and clean. Easy parking. Staff very helpful. The hotel is a conversion from a very old house that's dark and a bit run down but the bar and restaurant are very nice. Overall very good value for money @ £85/night for double room and first rate 3 course meals from £17"

St Andrews Guest House

"Ended up not staying at St Andrews guest house. Entrance code to property never came. Even though I spoke to a man called Andrew, the night before. He told me I would receive the code the next morning. Phoned three numbers on to get an entrance code as there is no one, on site. Eventually managed to get an answer on the phone to be told, we were not booked in, that it was expedia's fault, booking was not confirmed. They then said, that they would find us accommodation. At no extra cost. We stayed at The Braidmead, Irvine. Which is a lovely and welcoming place. Very distressing, having travelled for 4 hours and unable to speak to anyone. "

"Lovely cosy home convenient for all of our needs, close to train station and good walks for our dog. Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful modern bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and warm. Lovely small touches by the host with the chocolates on the coffee table, shampoo and conditioner provided, some board games etc. We had a fantastic stay here and would book it again in the future. "
