Overall the hotel was lovely and exceeded my expectations. We wasn't there long, we arrived around 8pm after a long day at Thorpe Park and left the following day. On arrival there was no one at the front desk and we called the number on the message there but no one came. My children were tired and sat on the stairs waiting so in the end I had to walk into the bar area to then find a young man (sorry I didn't notice his name only his bleached blonde hair and poor attitude)! We explained that we were checking in and he then asked if we wanted the 6.15 to 6.45 breakfast sitting or the 7.30-8.15? I was shocked how early and asked if he had later but his reply was "no they went ages ago and you will be chucked out at 8.15! I was upset as had I known I would have booked prior as he said this is what we should have done, but was really rude about it and very unhelpful. The next day wasn't a good start as when I got to my car I had a parking ticket! The hotel car park was full so we had to park next door, unfortunately, my fault I was 10mins late to update my ticket so the eager warden was out to get all hotel guests who clearly don't make it in time. Anyway the lady on reception when I got back was the complete opposite of the previous man, and she was very accommodating and asked the restaurant if we could have breakfast who were also lovely. Breakfast was good. So overall, apart from the young man on the night shift who needs a lesson in customer service, I would recommend.
