"This is one of the most spectacularly designed hotels I have ever experienced. And I've been around. It feels like a garden oasis and museum just as much as a hotel. No cost to create a mesmerizing interior was spared. A far cry from the typical 5 star tower with predictable, boring environment. "Great interior design. Spacious room and washroom. Comfi beds. Nice view of the Jinji lake and oriental arch if the unit is above 5th floor and facing the lake. ![About 1.5 hours west of Shanghai, Suzhou is known as the "Venice of China" with its canals and stone bridges.  Like in Venice, you can take a riverboat ride on the canals.  

Our boat was steered by an extremely strong little old man who serenaded us by singing Chinese opera.  

Built in 514 BC, Suzhou is an ancient city with a 2500 years' history. The unique characteristics of the past are still retained in present-day Suzhou. The double-chessboard layout of Suzhou, with 'the streets and rivers go side by side while the water and land routes run in parallel', are preserved basically intact. Strolling the streets, you can feel the unique lingering charm of this landscape left by its long history.
