Very friendly , good food convient to airpor and Chester zoo

Location in centre of Shrewsbury was perfect, easy enough to find and staff were friendly and helpful on arrival. 24 hour reception meant we didn't feel pressured to meet a deadline and were able to come and go as we pleased. The décor is a little dated but in keeping with the theme and the rooms were clean, bathroom was updated and modern, shower was lovely. Breakfast was more than ample and again good helpful staff. Cooked breakfast to order and buffet with cereals and juices to eat until your fill, no pressure to move out immediately which meant a nice start to the day with lots of tea! It was a bit noisy in the morning (room location) and the only thing a bit annoying was the parking - it wasn't clear that there was valet / off site parking so we ended up paying for NCP car park down the road so we could go into the hotel. also I don't really like other people driving my car so for me that was a bit of a grumble but location wise perfect and the staff were really nice.

The hotel staff were friendly and obliging e.g. were happy to sort out a taxi for us. The bedroom was comfortable. The stay was good value for money.

Mad Jack Myton left a legacy not least in his name. The Myton & Mermaid is a delightful old country hotel set beside the river Severn. There are grounds to sit in and a covered area to relax with a drink or a snack. This is a place where locals go for a friendly get together over a drink. I know for certain there is a lovely fire in the winter giving a cosy atmosphere to the room. .Bar and restaurant food is good and stylish. My room was in the newer courtyard building. Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated although on the small side. There was an ensuite with shower, basin and toilet. The shower cubicle was high off the ground and if you are less than mobile it would be worth asking if there is a more accessible bathroom. My only critisism is the heavy duvet, much too hot for my liking. Had I been staying for longer I would have asked for just a sheet. I will be happy to return next time I visit Shrewsbury.

Check in was easy & staff was very helpful/friendly. Bathrooms modern & clean, beds good, breakfasts were excellent. Within walking distance of town, abbey. Train station was easy to get to by cab. Overall a great place to stay. I would stay there again & highly recommend it. Rated=5 stars!!

Colin & Linda are very hospitable people welcoming you into their beautiful home & grounds more as friends than guests, will definatly return when next in Shrewsbury area.

I enjoyed my stay here at the hotel as the breakfast was really impressive with really frendly staff. The parking is a real plus. The accommodation is basic but adequate, the bed was a bit uncomfortable by the 2nd night as i had a bit of an aching neck in the morning. The shower cubical was very small and awkward to wash comfortably so if you are a bit on the large size you would need to contact the hotel to ask for a room with a reasonable size shower. the staff were very welcoming and i would book again definatley.
