"The property owner was very unresponsive. It was missing a few important amenities, which we then purchased under our own cost. Although the owner promised that we will be reimbursed for the cost, no actual reimbursement was given. There were water leakage in multiple spot which the owner failed to provide any solutions on. "Pleasantly impressed with the vibe at this hotel resort . Pool was clean and gorgeous. Arranging tours and vehicle rental right in lobby was easy and priced well. Staff are memorable and very nice . The property while dated is immaculately well kept and this means more to us than updated with crusty corners . They clean this place well. Beds are comfy and food was great! Will return to this resort for sure !"

"From the time arrived the staff made it clear they were they to help and be of service. The rooms were well maintained and they ensured you had everything you needed daily. The amenities were well kept and I seen someone cleaning the pool daily. The breakfast buffet was amazing. Everyday you would go down and they had a selection of food. Food and coffee or juice were included with the buffet The gym was equipped with everything you would need for any workout you were doing and it was never full. Each time I went there was only 1-3 other ppl. The beach was right on the property and you could set yourself up anywhere on the beach or pool. They would come and serve you if you wanted a snack or drink. They also had a snorkel and scuba shop on site that helped to set you up. They had day rentals as well if you wanted to do it on your own. This was the perfect place for a vacation!"

"Fantastic place for a diving vacation. On site dive shop and lessons. Small quiet resort with the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had. If you are looking for a lounger on the beach, this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a comfortable place to base your dive adventure from. This is where you should be."

"Casa del Mar, across Melgar (main oceanfront drive) from the beach, is old school Cozumel - verdant gardens, a winding circular drive, and charming, rustic, and comfortable interiors. I stayed at CdM for the first time back in 1993, but through the years I generally stayed at La Ceiba, its former sister property across the street. La Ceiba had been sold off and ruined long ago, catering to the nasty cruise ship passengers (La Ceiba now bought up by Carnival cruise line to aid them in the cash extraction process). But Casa del Mar, the hotel under review here, still feels like old Cozumel. Felt so comfortable to be back, with its swim up bar and its outdoor restaurant, both open late. A pedestrian bridge takes you from the pool area across Melgar to the Del Mar Aquatics dive shop and a decent beach dive. The dive shop will allow other dive companies to pick up there. As far as the room goes, I was in one of the garden view rooms. I enjoyed it. One of the two queen beds was so soft it was unsleepable, but the other one was fine, and there was only one of me. So, when reservating, request a room with new, firm mattresses. The AC took a while to get going, but it got the room nice and frosty. The shower was great - plenty of hot water and good pressure. No issue at all with noise, as this place is buffered by its expansive gardens, where you might see a pair of javelinas roaming. There is a safe in the closet, but you must get the lock from the front desk. Heart and soul here!"

"Did not like that we had appx 50% of the resort to use since they are in the midst of renovations - fixtures showed wear and tear and didn’t appreciate the rough uneven stones that were used on the walkways (possible tripping hazard) Also didn’t appreciate being told if we paid an additional $30.00 we could get into our room prior to the posted check in time"
