8.4/10 Very good! (687 reviews)
Was put in a room on top floor (3 flights up). The room was dated with rotting window frames & sill & marks on carpet where radiator had leaked. There was an old 1960's rickety iron bed which was very squeaky - felt slightly nauseous from the movement of it! The duvet cover had holes in. The wall side light had a bulb out. The bathroom had no plunger plug in the basin - I did ask but one could not be found! The shower screen did not fully cover the door & water poured out during a shower. Again stains on the floor from radiator leaks - would also question whether floor had been cleaned. The sloping glass shelf was just above the sink - not ideal. Overall this room was dire but after requesting a move the staff were happy to help. Can't fault the staff whatsoever. The next room was modern but again rotting window sill. The bed seemed to be a small double, it had a desk directly against pillow edge on one side & a fixed bedside shelf on the other which did not help so had to top & tail to sleep. Shower rail hanging out so fixed it back in with some cardboard. TV in both rooms had exceptionally bad reception. All-in-all if you're after luxury this is not the place. However, for a short stay (I booked for 11 nights!) it would be adequate, albeit basic. Can't comment on food or drinks as took my own. There is no lift so if disabled this hotel would not be suitable. Free parking is the other side of the Great Western Road - outside hotel is 'RingGo' & horrendously expensive.
