Bailiffgate Hotel

"Mum and I had a lovely 2 night stay at the Bailiffgate hotel. The hotel was beautifully appointed and clean. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The food was really good and the staff attentive. Our twin room was clean and perfect for a 2 night stay. I’d definitely recommend this hotel."

Holiday Inn Newcastle - Gosforth Park by IHG

"We booked for 5 nights so that we could explore the area, having never visited north east England previously. The location suited our purpose very well. The breakfasts were good and the staff made sure that all dishes were kept well filled; my one suggestion for meal improvement concerns the fixed all day menu. Whilst I understand the convenience (for the hotel) of having a fixed unchanging menu (except for the specials which were not available every evening) it does not suit guest who stay longer than 3 or 4 days. It would be helpful if there were a second fixed (but different) menu that alternated with the first on say 5 day intervals. The only other thing that spoilt our stay was a (false) fire alarm which sounded 4 times between 2 and 3 am - not conducive to sound sleeping!"

The Bamburgh Castle Inn - The Inn Collection Group

"Lovely hotel, perfectly situated next to the harbour. Although our room was a bit small and looked out to a small yard where the laundry was kept, it was clean and modern. We didn’t try the restaurant but the bar was good and there was outdoor seating to enjoy the views out to sea. The only downside would be the prices but it was school holidays and in a prime location. Also, the car park was very small necessitating in a big cost to pay for parking in a local public car park."

The Oaks Hotel

"This was a very convenient stopover for me travelling back from Orkney. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I was also taking the opportunity to visit Barter Books - The Oaks is just a 5 min walk up the road and oh so convenient !!"

"Loved the quirky style and hot tub. Really lovely bedding and towels. Less happy to have the breakfast delivered 2 hours early!"

"Stayed here many times and always great. Had a river front view this time instead of the obligatory view of the car park. Large room and great breakfasts with super staff"

Waterford Lodge Hotel

"Room Essentials provided. Lacked bedside shelf or table. Had to stand on stool to open only small window. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk etc. shower fine. Very clean. Could do with a chair. Fan provided but not used. Parking behind hotel. Could see car from room. Breakfast very good. 8.3am last time a bit early for us. Felt we got good value. Didn't need to have other meals there or use bar but premises spacious, nice decor, menu looked fine and staff very friendly and helpful."

Doxford Hall Hotel & Spa

"Brilliant hotel in beautiful surroundings. The whole area just feels lovely. Outside you had the maze and mature gardens with lots of areas to sit and relax. It was very peaceful and calm and very pretty. Inside there were lovely nooks and crannies to sit and chill from the library to an elegant lounge and the bar area. We had a nosy into the gym and pool area although didn't use them and they looked great too. Our room was spotlessly clean as was the whole hotel and eating areas. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely bathroom which was well equipped with fluffy towels and spa body wash and shampoo. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and the food we had was tasty. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel as we were out and about but it did look lovely. All the staff were very friendly and cheery and a credit to your hotel. I would 100% recommend this hotel and we hope to visit again sometime."
