Excellent scenic location next to the river. Amazing breakfast choices. Evening meals were always very good and sometimes exceptional. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would hope to return.

Lovely hotel, cosy feel

We booked on the spur of the moment for one night and definitely picked the best location in Ross on Wye. The hotel has a fantastic terrace with a great view and we were given a room with that view too when we asked. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed comfortable with lovely crispy white sheets. I stayed in a single room that was fantastically decorated, clean, warm and had everything you would need for a great price. with great parking. On arrival i received a very warm welcome from the manager, throughout my stay the staff were excellent polite, very accommodating and made every effort to ensure a good stay.thank you. We booked the hotel for its proximity to Simmons Yat, a well known beauty spot. The hotel turned out to be just as attractive in its own way for our 7 day stay. The rooms were comfortable and adequately appointed. In the restaurant we found the menus to be wide ranging in choice and the quality of the food and presentation to be generally good. A wonderful stay. Everyone and everything was really lovely and welcoming.

Lovely room above a quiet pub. Serves tremendous food. Owner is lovely and will do his best to make your stay a special one. Nice touches like the tray of home made biscuits and fresh milk for the morning tea/coffee. Espresso machine in the room was great. Nice for a short break and not far from the M5 or the cotswolds

The Anchor is a village pub with some rooms at the back. We were in "Lavers" which, I suspect, is the smallest room but perfectly fine for the two of us. The room itself was immaculate, clean with good quality fittings and views over open countryside. We only had a small shower room but again well appointed. Good breakfast

Wow! What an amazing two days. We stayed in the King Henry VIII Suite, which was such a fantastic experience. The restaurant meals were superb and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely breakfast and great location. I loved the view from the bedroom window across Monmouth town.

Always a pleasure to stay at the Talbot. Welcoming staff and comfortable rooms. Good food and good beer…is there anything else one needs??

A quirky old building with narrow winding stairs, but a handy lift too

Had a lovely couple of nights in The Speech House Hotel. The staff were friendly but also professional. Room really comfortable and well equipped, and a good size. The restaurant was excellent, both for dinner and for breakfast. The hotel has a long and interesting history going back many hundreds of years. It's such a lovely location too, with lots of places within easy driving distance, but more importantly there's the beautiful Forest of Dean to enjoy. We would most definitely go back to the...
