We were at the Villa La Estancia for a wedding. The grounds were beautiful as were the facilities and the ocean views.
We were surprised when we checked into the resort that Expedia had upgraded our room to a suite. Nice touch! They have a sister resort that is next door and all facilities are inter-changeable. The wedding events were all very well done. We usually stay at another resort in PV which we like better, but for the price it was a great alternative and we were able to be with all the wedding guests.

Really enjoyed our stay. The staff were great and took their time to go out of their way to make us feel at home. The rooms were clean. Food was good. Nice beach in the back. Gave it a 4 because the bed mattress was a little hard. Other than that we were really pleased with our stay and plan to go back next year.
We loved our time here! Room was beautiful--we had a two floor suite with private pool, though the pool was too cold to use. Food and wine were great and the service top notch. We also did the swim with seals excursion which was really fun. Over-all this was a fantastic vacation and we would highly recommend. If you are looking for quiet upscale, this is the place. My only suggestion/criticism is that there was no entertainment. A few shows would make this a truly perfect place!
Overall a nice hotel, made better by very polite, friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent staff attitude made the trip a positive experience.
Full disclosure at the time of booking re repairs/renovations, work on pools/closed pools, building going on in hotel or adjacent, would be the honest and honorable thing to do.
"Nice hotel staff was Very slow in service & rude"
Beautiful hotel but needs work on details. You are not allowed to take you car up past the entrance point and while it's great for security everytime we called for them to pick us up they would take over 15min (the hotel was NOT fully booked or lines waiting) or jus not show until we were practically down the hill. Staff at breakfast is very unorganized and slow. Many people were waiting to be seated, served and just to get their checks to longer then it should be. Lastly knw that if you would like your room cleaned you must hang the sign on the door which I didn't learn until checkout (vs other hotels where the sign is to not be disturbed). When we arrived in the evening and our room wasn't cleaned staff just told us with an attitude "I was very busy but I'm here now"
Imanta Resorts - January 14 - 18, 2016
Imanta Resort is a world-class escape, and ranks top of any resort (even Bora Bora) I’ve had the pleasure to experience. The location, staff, and feel, is magical. You are greeted by name, and there are no receipts to sign, it’s done seamlessly while you are at the resort. A stay at Imanta is a true escape to relaxation and imagination. The sunsets are beautiful, and the canopy of stars greets you each evening like an old friend. The rolling Pacific waves rumble ashore in a rhythmic cadence which lulls you into a deep sense of wonderment.
The hotel is in a Golf property that houses two hotels, the "Iberostar playa mita" (another hotel which looks more "common" i.e. more like the all inclusive type, it looked more crowded and not that special at least from the outside) and "La Tranquila".
The Tranquila areas are beautiful and very well kept, staff is very profesional and courteous, room was very spacious and had excellent distribution including a bath tub inside and a small two person pool on the outside terrace overlooking the hotel areas and sea.
What i really liked was that the hotel was not crowded with people, there was almost no one there when you went out to the pools or sea, no music playing or when they did have some it was only in certain areas and very soft so you would hardly notice it.
The pools are so big you can be on one side and not even know who might be swimming on the other end, the beach area is very clean, well kept and you would have it all to yourself, some people walking by from the other hotels in the area but it is great if you like to have the beach to yourself.
The pool restaurant staff was very attending but at the same time they were not all over you trying to force any food or drinks, food was not A+ but not bad at all, i'm a vegan so i didnt eat much, if you're a meat/fish eater the food may be great as the chefs looked like pro's.
Overall great vacation, i would recommend it for adults, i would assume kids would not have as much fun in a quiet, relaxing environment.
Rooms need updating, sliding door to balcony barely worked, pillows and bed were terrible. Restaurants were open weird hours...nothing opened from 11:30-12:30 for lunch???? Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. Bruno our bartender was great! Plenty of chairs/umbrellas by pool and beach.
