We had a super welcome from the reception staff along with a warm cookie each - very nice touch. Our room was gorgeous - I'd say newly refurbished, with a delightful bathroom (we've just returned from a 3 week tour of California/Hawaii and we rated the bathroom better than any we stayed in there!). Large, soft, fluffy towels and toiletries provided. We could not fault the cleanliness - top marks to the housekeeping team. We had the usual TV (with all freeview channels), tea/coffee making facilities, and a hairdryer in the room but also free wifi, a safe and an iron/ironing board. Good air-con/heating once we'd worked out how to operate it! In order to access the gym/pool at 'The Club' you have to leave the hotel but it's literally a 3 minutes walk. The gym had lots of very up to date equipment and staff on hand to help if required. The pool was nice but full of kids at the time we chose to go - we should have left it later. The hotel is set in some nice gardens and there is a seating area by the pond which has a nice fountain in it. My one and only criticism would be that the heavy doors to the rooms are self closing and make a loud bang if not held when closed. Therefore, people leaving early tended to let their doors bang which woke those trying to sleep past 5am! Other than that - a totally fab stay.

"Perfectly adequate for our needs"
If I had a grumble I would say that the shower in our disabled wet room was slow to run away and started to run into the bathroom area. We weren't disabled but I can see a possible problem with excess water in the bathroom. Very much a minor gripe!

"amazing views, lousy parking"
We had a "gorge view" room, on the corner of the hotel, which meant both bedroom and bathroom windows with great views of the bridge and into the gorge. Room was bright, airy and more spacious than I expected, bed incredibly comfortable. There were two things that we didn't like. Firstly, parking. The hotel car park is basically the service road at the back of the hotel. It's very steep, narrow, and was full when we arrived. Reversing back up it was no fun at all and has probably significantly shortened the life of my clutch. Of course, the hotel has a solution: pop into reception and they'll give you a parking permit so that you can park in a nearby street. Knowing that ahead of time would have saved much stress and annoyance at the end of a long drive. Secondly, the restaurant. Dinner for two with a couple of cocktails and a bottle of middling wine was £140. For that price, I wouldn't expect chewy, overlooked scallops, crab and chilli linguini devoid of the slightest hint of heat or slow service, yet that's what we had. Staff commented on there being a wedding in the hotel that evening, yet we saw one every day we were there. Hardly the sort of thing to use as an excuse for poor service. I doubt the wedding was a surprise booking! That said, if you want a great night's sleep (both nights the wedding discos finished before midnight, and the terrace below our window was cleared of noisy revellers at about the same time) with amazing views to wake up to, it's a great hotel.

Enjoyed our stay at Lyncombe Lodge. Lovely area Out two daughters used to come to Lyncombe Lodge for the horse riding and skiing so it was a trip down memory lane for us. Although the horses no longer there the hotel looks pretty much the same.

"Ideal location for visiting Bristol"
We wanted to spend our visit walking around some of our favourite areas of Bristol, and the location of the hotel was perfect for this, just off the top of Park Street. First impressions were very good and the staff were helpful and welcoming. We were fortunate to get a parking place in the hotel garage, although parking might have been more tricky if this hadn't been the case. The room was pleasant and well presented, and the complimentary glass of Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry was a nice touch. The room size was sufficient, although not particularly spacious. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, and once again the service was prompt and efficient.
