"Sink was slow to drain. Soap dispenser above sink was empty. Room was hot, facing the afternoon sun and next to road so was noisy overnight. Fascinating old flour mill and picturesque location. Car park is difficult to negotiate."

"The Delta Bristol was very modern, clean, and comfortable; staff were very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast selection was incredibly varied, more than those that I've seen at other hotels. Only complaint was that the mattresses were a bit on the hard side, but we had that sorted with an extra cover provided."

Macdonald Bath Spa

Macdonald Bath Spa

8/10 Good
"Lovely staff, great rooms, pool was lovely but busy. The biggest single let down was breakfast. It was OK nothing special but charging £4 for a speciality coffee and then £6 to upgrade your breakfast for a come of extra bits was just cheap and penny pinching. I typically spend 100+ nights a year in hotels from 3* to 5* and the breakfast thing stuck out out bad."

Frequently asked questions

When is the most affordable time to visit Pilton?
The most affordable time to visit Pilton generally falls outside of the peak summer months and major event periods. If you're looking for budget-friendly travel, aim for the shoulder seasons of spring (late March to May) and autumn (September to October).During these times, the weather is typically pleasant, and you'll find lower prices on accommodation and potentially cheaper transport options compared to the height of summer. For solo travellers, exploring Pilton when the crowds are thinner offers a more tranquil experience, allowing you to enjoy the picturesque Somerset countryside and local villages without the premium costs associated with peak demand. It's particularly important to avoid late June, as this is when the area hosts a world-renowned music festival, driving accommodation prices sky-high and making budget travel virtually impossible.
How much does a budget hotel in Pilton cost?
Budget hotel prices in Pilton vary, but you can find a great deal on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates. Typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
Is Pilton a budget-friendly destination?
While Pilton is generally not considered a budget-friendly destination due to its primary association with a world-renowned music festival, travellers can certainly visit the charming Somerset village affordably outside of festival dates. For solo travellers and couples exploring the wider Somerset region, Pilton offers a tranquil escape without the usual festival crowds and inflated prices. Accommodation in the village itself is limited, but nearby towns like Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet offer more budget-friendly guesthouses and B&Bs, often with good bus connections.During non-festival periods, the main attractions in Pilton are its picturesque rural setting and historic church. Exploring the village and its surrounding countryside is completely free, offering lovely walks and a true taste of English village life. Dining options are scarce in Pilton itself, but packing a picnic or visiting local pubs in neighbouring villages can keep costs down significantly.
What free activities should we do in Pilton?
While Pilton itself is a very small village, the surrounding Somerset area offers a wealth of free activities superb for budget-conscious travellers, especially families. You can immerse yourselves in the beautiful English countryside without spending a penny. For families, a fantastic option is exploring the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This expansive area offers numerous walking trails suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Pack a picnic, enjoy the stunning views, and let the children run free in nature. Specific spots like Cheddar Gorge, while having paid attractions, also offer public footpaths with breathtaking vistas that are completely free to access and enjoy.Another delightful free activity is visiting the charming market towns nearby, such as Glastonbury or Wells. In Wells, you can marvel at the magnificent Wells Cathedral from the outside and explore its grounds, which are freely accessible. Many towns also have local parks or playgrounds where children can burn off some energy.
