The breakfast was lovely. Lots of choice. Didn’t like the fact that my friend was cancelled only a couple of days beforehand due to ‘overbooking’. This meant my stay wasn’t as pleasant. We were going to walk home together from our University reunion and in the morning have breakfast together. Instead ...
Very homey, comfy apart from the sofa. Stairs were very steep and tall. Apart from this 5*
Lovely staff and great location. Beautiful India tea shop right opposite called Chaiiwala. Had breakfast there everyday.
Great hotel, fantastic location right in town centre. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. Always stay here when we go to Leicester.
Good location and property. Staff are polite and helpful. Spacious room.
Staff are very family and helpful, also efficient. Good breakfast, well refurbished property, very convenient for City centre. A great hotel. Only down point was mattress - too hard.

A much-loved independent arts venue in the heart of the vibrant cosmopolitan Roman city of Leicester, the Phoenix Arts Centre is within walking distance of several fantastic hotels. It's also just a short distance away from Leicester Railway Station, which offers frequent direct trains to London St. Pancras International, Birmingham, Derby, Sheffield, Leeds and other major cities.
The Phoenix Arts Centre showcases a wide selection of films at its two modern cinema screens, from low-budget independent films to world-famous Hollywood titles. It also has a delightful café bar providing delicious freshly prepared food and drinks throughout the day, and is still a registered charity, with all of its earnings going back into its own programmes. The centre, once known as the Leicester Digital Media Centre or Phoenix Square, benefited from a multi-million pound redevelopment in the late 2000s, and also has an impressive art gallery.
For affordable accommodation nearby, you could book a stay at the pleasant three star Hotel Campanile on St. Matthews Way, which has an elegant lounge and WiFi in all rooms and public areas. A little further north is the Ibis Budget Leicester, another value-for-money three star venue that provides free parking and free internet access.
If you're fascinated by everything to do with science and astronomy, don't forget to visit the National Space Centre, which was founded in 2001 and includes state-of-the-art research facilities and a rare Soyuz spacecraft, among other spectacular exhibits.
The city is also known for its New Walk Museum art gallery and history exhibition, the historic Abbey Pumping Station, the magnificent De Montfort Hall live performance venue, and scenic Abbey Park. If you fancy venturing a little further afield, you could explore Bradgate Park, an enormous 850-acre open space that is part of the vast Charnwood Forest and has numerous prehistoric rocks dating back many millions of years.
You could stay at the chic and contemporary Leicester Marriott Hotel on Smith Way, or opt for the majestic, historic Mercure Leicester The Grand Hotel or Granby Hotel, both of which provide impeccable hospitality and elaborately decorated four star accommodation.
