I was happy to find this hotel remained open to business travellers during lockdown. It is situated in the middle of a park, and is stunning both inside and out. The room was beautifully furnished and the en-suite was lovely. There was no room service available during lockdown, which I thought would be ok when I booked, but it actually became quite tricky, particularly without a fridge in the room to keep purchased food chilled. The wifi didn’t work. I mentioned it to staff but it wasn’t resolved. Fortunately I had my hot-spot but the hotel may want to sort this out for future guests (particularly if travelling with wifi-dependent youngsters!)
There is no lift in the main building, which is fine if you’re fit and healthy - which I’m not!! I was carrying quite heavy luggage and confess to struggling a bit when I was towards the top of the 54 stairs! There is a lift on the other side of the hotel, so it is accessible to all.
The staff who greeted me every evening when I came back from work were just lovely and a credit to the hotel.
I would love to come back when the hotel is able to serve food. Other hotels offer a limited room service menu during lockdown. If this hotel could do the same I would come back during lockdown and would really like to support them rather than the bigger hotel chains.
Photo is the view from my room. Just stunning!
