"Onsen in the Country"
The onsen was an experience that we wanted to enjoy while travelling through Japan. The staff were excellent and provided over the top service. The food was wonderful and delicious. The onsen was out further than we expected from Osaka but a short walk from Amami Station.

"A Good Japanese Hotel with Hot Springs!"
So the main reason why we booked this hotel was because it had hot springs! The hot springs were amazing (the hotel even provided yukatas for us to wear to it) and it certainly was an experience! (Considering none of us had ever been to a public bath/hot springs...) As for the room, we learned that the "living room" area was also our "bedroom" area in that, in the evening, the hotel staff would move the table and seats off to the side and lay out bedding for us. Then, sometime in the morning, the staff would put the bedding away and move the table and seats back. Also, having an air conditioner in the living room was great because of the high humidity during the summer. The hotel also provided breakfast, had a small shop, a tea house, and two restaurants on-site (a ramen shop and a full restaurant we never tried out) as well. We also noticed that they had an arcade (as seen in Expedia's pictures) and found that it wasn't as nice as the (single) picture showed. It was still a decent arcade but it didn't help that there wasn't a change dispenser. One thing to note though is that the hotel is located far from the station, but you can take either the hotel shuttle (to and from the station during certain hours), the local bus line, or a taxi. We missed the shuttle a couple of times and ended up taking the bus, but only once did it take us to the hotel's bus stop. For the other times, we had to walk from the next closest stop, which took us a couple of minutes.

"Quiet place, but close to the big city!"
I'm so glad I found the Hyatt Regency - this place is a gem! Located a few miles south of Osaka city, it's a great place to unwind after having your senses overstimulated in the big city! I took the subway everyday into the city center - about 15-20 minutes, but there is a free hotel shuttle that brings guests to JR Osaka station. I prefer the train! Hotel staff was very helpful, the buffet breakfast is fantastic, and the 2 pools are incredible. My only complaint, if you could even call it that, is that my room could use a bit of updating. There is a big mall next door - ATC (Asia Pacific Trade Center) which was never crowded and had great places to eat. It looks like this whole area (Cosmo Square) is new, maybe a municipal effort to develop this area into a tourist/shopping destination? Anyway, I had a wonderful experience at the Hyatt and plan on staying there again soon. If you want to explore the excellent Osaka subway system, take the New tram (blue line) at Nakafuto, right outside the hotel west entrance, to Cosmo Square, change to the Chuo (green line) to Hommachi, then take the Midosuji (red line) to anywhere you want to go. Safe and easy! The "Sky bar" (as I called it - really the 28th floor bar) was awesome, with great views of Osaka and the aquarium Ferris wheel. And we enjoyed a fantastic electric violinist playing live music on Friday evening!
