Where to Drive in Osaka
Driving north from Osaka, you’ll come to the beautiful landscapes of Minoo Quasi-National Park in less than an hour. With waterfalls, hiking trails and some of the best displays of autumn colour in the region, it’s well worth a trip. There are also tranquil temples and hot springs for a spot of relaxation.
Drive out of Osaka
The city of Kyoto is only an hour’s drive away from Osaka, offering you the chance to experience a completely different side to Japanese culture than the vibrant energy of Osaka. A little further north, Lake Biwa – Japan’s largest lake – is a popular destination for locals and visitors. Head for the quieter northern shores to enjoy the fabulous views from the open road.
South of Osaka, the atmospheric temple town of Mount Koya, about two hours’ drive into the hills, offers visitors the experience of staying overnight in a Buddhist temple. Or if kicking back at a beach resort appeals, then take your rental car along the coast road to Shirahama on the Kii peninsula.
