This is a lovely hotel. Having just spent 2 days at a very large hotel and spa in Yorkshire where the staff's attitude seems to be that customers are always wrong, this hotel made a very welcome change. I have no hesitation recommending it. But do remember to book a space in the car park.
We only stayed the one night however from when we first arrived we were made to feel more than welcome. Clean, beautifully decorated room with ensuite - tea and coffee available in the shared living room. A lovely nights sleep topped off with a delicious full English. Will definitely be ...
As a solo traveller my experience here was first class. The house is beautiful, set back from the main road and peaceful. Frederick and Joan are superb hosts, making me feel very welcome in their home, and giving me time to talk about my sightseeing experiences. The room I had was very clean, very ...
For a hotel that prides itself on service we were surprised by the inattentiveness of staff in the lounge. The food and bedrooms we could not fault - the tasting menu with the matched wines was made in heaven. However we felt let down by the service in the lounge. There is no bar in the hotel so ...
Stayed for our anniversary and upgraded to a superior room. The bin hadn't been emptied, elastic bands on the floor and hairs on the bathroom floor. Did get an apology and a glass of wine but not really acceptable for a superior room (or any room). Couldn't fault the staff though, pleasant and ...
Nice place to stay within reasonable walking distance of town centre and restaurants. Staff very helpful with eating recommendations. We booked late for our duration of stay and had last top floor room which was small with no comfortable chairs but otherwise fine. Noticed other rooms were more spacious. ...
The north of England is home to some of the most spectacular sights in all of Europe. North Yorkshire is a particular hit with holidaymakers, boasting several of the United Kingdom's finest National Parks. Amidst all the glorious countryside visitors will find an impressive array of attractions, spanning fascinating museums, elegant stately homes and theme parks. To top it all off, North Yorkshire's hotel selection is as good as any in the country. Those looking for an extra special break can book in to one of the county's many design hotels.
Design hotels like to do things differently, and this begins with the building. Guests can typically expect something out of the ordinary. This might be a repurposed period property - a hotel crafted from the remains of an old church or warehouse, perhaps - or an imaginative new build.
York's Hotel 53 is a fine example of a design hotel which takes great pride in its architecture. York is an historic city, peppered with period architecture. Hotel 53 offers something different - a clean and modern design. Clean white walls are offset by extensive, floor-to-ceiling glazing, allowing for plenty of light in the hotel's interior.
Design hotels take aesthetics very seriously, understanding that the devil is in the detail. Expect thoughtful lighting, accessorised communal spaces and unique themes across guest rooms.
The Avondale Guesthouse in York shows how a personal touch can make all the difference. With just six guest rooms, the intimate accommodation gets plenty of attention from the B&B's staff members. There's a tasty breakfast each morning, free WiFi throughout the guesthouse, and even parking right outside.
Design hotels in North Yorkshire are about more than just good looks. The Yorkshire Hotel in the spa town of Harrogate proves that visitors to the county can expect substance, as well as style.
Facilities at The Yorkshire Hotel are well suited to professional guests. There are a number of versatile meeting suites at the hotel, ideal for everything from board meetings to industry conferences. The hotel is also centrally located, making it easy to reach from across the county.
