Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate Nice in May or September. The weather is ideal for boat trips along the coast or exploring the charming old town, Vieux Nice, without the peak summer crowds. Many of the city's art galleries and museums, such as the Musée Matisse, are enjoyable at this time, offering a more relaxed experience.

If you're interested in cultural events, February and March are popular for the Nice Carnival, one of the world's largest. While cooler, this period offers a unique cultural spectacle.

Nice offers several options for an evening out, with distinct areas suiting different preferences.

The Old Town, or Vieux Nice, is a popular spot. You'll find a concentration of traditional pubs, wine bars, and smaller establishments tucked away in its narrow streets. It's a good choice for a more relaxed evening, perhaps with some live acoustic music in some venues. The area around Cours Saleya, in particular, has several places to sit and have a drink.

For a livelier experience, head to the Promenade des Anglais and the areas just off it. Here, you'll find larger clubs with DJs, as well as beachfront bars that often have terraces. These venues tend to stay open later and are often focused on dancing and more energetic music.

The Port area also has a selection of bars and restaurants that stay open into the evening. While not as concentrated with clubs as other parts of the city, you'll find some sophisticated cocktail bars and places with a pleasant waterside view.
