Excellent ! We will be back… we were stuck in traffic so ringing ahead, we were able to order food and they kept it warm. My partner, tired from a week in hell at work knocked her wine over..another appeared as if by magic. I had to make an important call … they, without being asked turned music down.wow. The staff are amazing, as are the rooms, bed, bathroom and food..we will be back ! Many thanks guys.

Absolutely lovely stay at The Royal oak. Beautifully decorated throughout, with a really warm and homely feel. Staff were welcoming, dinner and breakfast were first-class and my room was spotlessly clean with a great bathroom and comfy bed. Would definitely return, I stayed for work but it would be a lovely place for a weekend away.

Staff were lovely. Had a long drive and arrived on the cutoff for ordering dinner, but thankfully the staff were kind enough to still let us order. We had both dinner and breakfast, both were absolutely delicious. There was some games we could borrow which we enjoyed playing in the bar, only small disadvantage is the bar closed at 10:30. Room was very clean, stocked with tea and coffee and the extra pillows in the wardrobe was a nice addition. Overall, we had a very peaceful, relaxing stay.

Great hotel, good service particularly the brasserie restaurant. We enjoyed the spa treatments. A bit noisy on the Saturday night.

This is a good base for touring the area. Highclere Castle is a minutes drive away, but closed in winter. You can walk a public footpath in the grounds to Kingsclere. The food is excellent and good value, served by helpful friendly staff. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable.

A very comfortable last minute stay in this lovely pub. The rooms are very cosy and comfortable, the service outstanding and the food just delicious. The only thing I'd change is the plug and bright green fire escape lighting that illuminates the room too much for a good night's sleep. Overall a very lovely stay.

The Hotel was located amongst beautiful grounds. It was a combination of old and new build and very clean in all public spaces. Staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and knowledgable about the local area. Our room was very spacious and well equipped with fabulous views down to the river and was spotlessly clean too (except for what appeared to be a blood stained bath towel!) Nice hotel and friendly staff

The room was spotless beautifully furnished. We had endless tea, coffee milk and biscuits. The staff could not have been more helpful nothing was too much trouble The restaurant and bar was clean and very comfortable. The food was fabulous, well prepared. Added to all this you have a very large car park Would recommend this hotel and give it 10/10.

A little off the beaten track but this hotel is of exceptional quality and it a bargain for the price we paid. VERY quiet and comfortable. Superb breakfast too. We'll definitely return!

We recently returned and stayed in a comfy double room last weekend. Very well maintained hotel, room and facilities. The room was spotless. Great choice of indoor and outdoor seating and restaurant and bar services. We were satisfied with the gym. We didn’t use the sauna and steam rooms this time. Not the quietest of venues during event nights.

Anniversary weekend. Very nice hotel with character and good service - just what we were looking for. The room was super, the hotel serve fantastic afternoon tea and we loved the quiet library and the little sun-trap on the library terrace. Would have liked fluffy bathrobes, but can't think of anything else to improve. Be warned: - The bed was hard (which we like/prefer) but large and comfortable. We used the hotel as a base to visit the Bombay Sapphire gin factory which was very close by. From the moment we checked in the whole stay was second to none, normally this is a one or perhaps two night stay but we had about a week there. The staff were so helpful and very courteous on all levels, the room was clean and lovely bath towels provided.
