We stayed here expressly to visit Highclere, which was a 20 minute brisk walk away. Room was small but ok, chilly but there is a plug in heater for additional warmth. For some reason we got the handicapped room so the bathroom was weird, no shower curtain just a drain in the floor and no outlets. Dinner was delicious and the dining room cozy as was the bar area. Everyone was extra nice, helpful, easy going. It's just old but they work well with what they have. We had to go outside to access our room, so it felt more motel-ly than hotel-ly but the property access was limited so we felt safe.
