The resort of Morzine is one of the gems of the Haute-Savoie department, renowned for the quality of its ski slopes and for its year-round mountain sports.
Around 400 miles of ski slopes is an enticing prospect for snowsports enthusiasts! In the summer, the slopes become mountain bike tracks and hiking trails for mountain sports fans. In the heart of the Alps, Morzine is located in Les Portes du Soleil, between mountain pastures and cliffs, with Lake Geneva to the north and Mont Blanc to the south. Everywhere you look you'll be dazzled by the grandiose beauty of this protected site, which has managed to retain its warm Savoyard character. At the end of your day in the great outdoors, you can go down to the village to enjoy the lively après-ski atmosphere, savouring raclette or fondue in one of the many restaurants.
While Morzine is particularly well-regarded for its beautiful landscape and comfortable ski wear, the commune is also a great place to visit with its delightful rocks and old chalets with their typical wooden openwork balconies. Surrounded by ancient forests, Morzine sees eight metres of snow in winter it's the perfect place for children to learn to ski, particularly in the children's village, or in Europe's first ecological snow park, known as "the Stash".
Morzine has hosted the Tour de France 14 times and it also offers a large ice rink for your best moves on the ice! Those who like a dip will enjoy the huge covered swimming pool before basking in the spa and Turkish baths in the aquatic complex, which is open all year round.
Near to Switzerland, Morzine is around 50 miles from Geneva airport. Travelling by train, you can get off at Cluses high-speed train station.
