Horrible experience as the hotel was overbooked.

Posted 12-Jul-2017
Pros: nothing.
Cons: everything. The sheets, pillows, bathrooms. the general state of the hotel !
Location: Didn't venture out - went back to the airport early in the morning.
Was sent to a different hotel after having travelled for 24 hrs already, arrived past midnight - my booking clearly stated that I would arrive at the time I did. The hotel that I was transferred to was dirty, didn't even feel like taking a shower or sitting on the bed. The only reason I stayed at the hotel was the time - too late to go anywhere else or to the airport. left very early in the morning. Would NOT recommend anyone staying at these facilities at all!

Budget price. Very comfy and welcoming staff.

Love this retro hotel, would choose it over a soulless travel Inn anyway. Very clean, everything I needed.

Please upgrade your mattresses!

Posted 25-Jun-2017
Pros: Proximity to airport.
Cons: Replace the carpets. Make it 100% non-smoking. Replace the mattresses. Install air conditioning.
The mattresses were just awful: lumpy, and we could very clearly feel the springs. Since there is no air conditioning we had to keep the windows open and were kept awake by the heavy traffic. Hallway smelled of cigarette smoke.

Dirty all around

Posted 24-Jun-2017
Pros: The hotel offered shuttles to and from the airport for a reasonable fee.
Cons: They seriously need to work on cleaning/washing. The restaurant needs to get inspected by the health department if there are live worms in their food.
The hotel looked promising at first, but that quickly changed. The heater didn't really work and the room was freezing. I found an extra blanket, but it smelled like it had never been washed and was covered in hair. It was disgusting. I went to the front desk to ask for another blanket (that was clean) and found what looked like the manager flirting with the receptionist. They ignored me at first and continued their conversation as if I wasn't standing there in front of them. After seeing that I wasn't leaving until I was helped, the man (manager?) asked if I needed something. I asked for an extra blanket. He told me there was one in my room. I asked for another. He seemed reluctant to get me one, but eventually did. It was slightly better than the one in my room, but still didn't smell clean. I ended up using all of the towels in the room as blankets because I was so cold.I tried eating at the restaurant downstairs, but immediately regretted it. I ordered some simple chicken strips. They brought it out with a little salad on the same plate that had a live worm in it. Seriously. It was moving around the lettuce. I felt nauseous and instantly lost my appetite. I showed it to the girl at the cash register who looked horrified and took it back to the kitchen. She offered me something else, but I obviously wasn't going to eat anything there ever again. She said I didn't have to pay for my meal, not that I was planning to anyways. She looked genuinely sorry. I left disgusted.

Reasonable Hotel, Great Location

Posted 15-Jun-2017
Pros: Location, car parking, cleanliness, comfort.
Cons: A desk chair.
Location: Quiet location. Near to shops, bars and restaurants. Good access to the motorway network.
The hotel seems quite minimal on first impression but the staff were very efficient and check-in took no time at all. My room was well appointed and didn't feel cramped. A desk chair would have been a welcome addition but the available lounge chair was a reasonable substitute. In room Wi-Fi reception was OK, although it worked much better in the lobby. I didn't really use any of the other facilities but the foyer bar seemed to have a good ambience. The best part of the experience was the location, which was perfect for me to get back onto the motorway and explore Northern England. It was also only a few hundred metres from the local high street shops, which was very handy. I would definitely stay there again.

Bedbug breeding ground

Posted 29-May-2017
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Needs the beds and pillows renewed
Location: Right next to the motorway. Plenty of noise.
Arrived about 2.30 a.m. Beer glasses, cans etc. strewn about the entrance. Real run down foyer. Rigsby could not have done a better job. Room 412 Never stayed in such a shabby room. Pillows and mattress stained, disgusting. Poor decor. Went to reception with the pillows, they gave us a different room. Room 315. A lot cleaner pillows ok but the mattress left a lot to be desired. Really tired by now so up at 6.10 a.m. feeling as if we had been eaten alive overnight. The receptionists/manager although polite smelled of takeaway.

FOR A ONE NIGHT STAY IT WAS OK

Posted 15-May-2017
Pros: WE HAD A MEAL IN THE EVENING WHICH WAS FINE THOUGH QUITE A FEW OF THE CHOICES WERE NOT AVAILABLE
Location: NOT NECESSARY FOR A ONE NIGHT STAY
IT WAS OK FOR ONE NIGHT THOUGH BECAUSE OF NO DOUBLE GLAZING IT WAS VERY NOISY, ALSO THE SINK HAD A HORRIBLE CRACK IN IT A BIT OF A GERM TRAP. WE DIDN'T MENTION IT TO RECEPTION WHICH REALLY WE SHOULD HAVE DONE.
