"Stayed one night in order to see a gig in Bangor. Everything was great, very friendly and helpful staff. We had dinner before we left for the show. Food very good for the dinner as was breakfast. Clowie organised a taxi for us into Bangor, all went like clockwork. Nice car area for when we returned."

Secluded Cottage in Heart of the Snowdonia National Park

Secluded Cottage in Heart of the Snowdonia National Park

8/10 Good
"I spent a week at this magical cottage with my partner and 6 month old baby. Tucked away in an ancient woodland it is incredibly peaceful and secluded, with a simple elegance and cosy character. It has brilliant access to some gorgeous walks and mountain views. We enjoyed the proximity to the steam railway and fairytale Plas Halt station in the woods, a short walk from the cottage. Local towns Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog were an easy drive away for supplies. Access to the cottage is down some uneven and occasionally steep slate/stone steps, and the ground around the cottage is also very uneven, so not really suitable for pushchairs."

"Everything was immaculate, great breakfasts, lovely staff and gorgeous deep sofas to relax in. We had a calm evening in the library playing Scrabble and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Thank you for a lovely few days break."

Gwydyr Hotel

Gwydyr Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"Very nice spot to set up your base while exploring north wales. As a word of caution: its very convenient location to the bus and train service is a huge plus, but the actual train and bus service in this region is quite unreliable. I was able to make due but there were a few times I had to wait upwards of 2-3 hours for trains to return back to betwy y coed after a long hike so you may want to consider renting a car if you're exploring many parts of the region, but it is still very accessible via public transit if that is your only option. The hotels food was actually very good and balanced and I always looked forward to eating there for a reasonable price after a long day"
