The services and property are excellent. The location of the hotel is too busy, a lot of noise. It disturbs sleeping.

Very centrally located and convenient to discover the city. Hotel was clean and the room was good. Good breakfast as well. Would recommend if you're staying for a few days

Very loud and dirty
The room I was in (208) was extremely loud all night long, noise came both from outside as well from inside the hotel. The hotel is located at one of the most touristic places and people hang out right outside on the street all day and night. In addition, there was no acoustic isolation/damping whatsoever - I would wake up in the middle of the night every time someone passed by my room thinking someone had entered my room because it was so loud. The bathroom was pretty dirty and there greesy fingerprints all over the bathroom and the bed table. The only good thing is its location being close to stores, restaurants, and the metro station. But for the price I paid (~110 Euros per night) you will find a ton of better hotels!

Thanks to the kind and helpful staff. Excellent location to explore Madrid, spacious clean rooms, great amenities. Expect some noise in the evening caused by excellent location 😊 though.

Very central hotel, clean and friendly staff
I am strongly recommend this hotel, it’s very central between Puerta del Sol and Gran vie. Tube are walking distance. Breakfast was ok. Thanks Carmen ( receptionist) to advise us the flamenco night walking distance from the hotel. Staff at the hotel were very friendly.

When I arrived in my room the air conditioning was off, and the Madrid temperature outside was about 100 degrees. Hotel personnel had to turn it on and I was sweating profusely until the room became cool. For the following 2 mornings (of the total 5 mornings of my stay) I woke up sweating since the air conditioning was turned off overnight. I had to request that it be turned on each morning. I spoke to the employees about it and they said they did not know why the air conditioning was shutting off at night, and the manager was out of communication for the next week (after my 5-day visit ended). I must speak with Expedia about this extreme inconvenience and request a rate adjustment. This was so unfortunate because all else was fine, including the breakfast and the employees.

Great option
Location is good and bad, with access to everything but also close to the action so you may need ear plugs to sleep. Spacious rooms, with comfortable beds. The ai conditioning could be better and no English channels on the tv. Staff are friendly

Ateneo is conveniently located within the Sol district of Madrid, which offers lots of restaurants and shopping along with some historic monuments.

Small Hotel in Center, But No English TV
A pretty good hotel, well located on a pedestrian mall, near Puerto del Sol and Gran Via. Problem is some taxis won't come to the door due to no cars on street and I had to walk a bit with my luggage at 1 am. Also worried about my exit, getting a cab to the Airport Express, because some taxis only want to go to the airport. I got one, though. No breakfast unless paid for, but clerks were nice, Carmen, Monica and especially Carlos, with whom I chatted a lot. Again, no TV channels in English. Ridiculous. Also, after 9 hotels, the only one that charged to use the safe, and each time you opened it. Also charged to use the scale to weigh luggage. Convenient to sights, walkable to many. I never used the metro in 3 days there. The room was small, and I was told it was a double. Bed large, but I couldn't use the desk chair, as it was penned in and I had to move it. Can't imagine 2 people moving around in the space. Bathroom large and bath shower good, but needs mat in tub to prevent slipping.

Ateneo Hotel Madrid
Hotel is in great location in Madrid, very easy to get to/form airport. On a busy street but very safe as there is a police station a few doors away. Staff very friendly and helpful

Frankly, hotel room is pretty old. It does not offer any cups in room and glasses in toilet. I have to clean the dust on desk, hand wash basin top before I feel clean to use. Towels are broken too, may be too much washing. I think they have renovated lobby only, for the room, it is still old and dull. Bed is comfortable, towels are old. The best thing be here is it's location, shopping and restaurants are just at downstairs. Hotel staffs are nice and kind. However, hotel room quality from my judgement is worse than hostal, I left my room about 2 pm and request cleaning service, but they informed all cleaning only service till 1 pm? Oh, I did not realize hotel is like this? 1 pm properly is not too late for the day to request tidy up? But front desk staff is very kind to offer colleague to get me new towels and remove the trash. I know it's not her fault. I think hotel administration should have improve all these? I found room prices are fluctuating, in a week of time the same room price can be from 70 euro to double. You've better to check and compare before making decision, except your concern is location. It is definitely located at the heart of SOL.

This property was centrally located within walking distances to many fantastic restaurants, shops & museums. The staff was very professional & helpful. It is an older yet quaint hotel.

Great Room, Great Location
This place was just what I needed. Very comfortable, very clean and very convenient to Metro. In fact the bed was so comfortable and the 4th floor room so immensely dark, I slept deep restorative sleep every night of my stay... undoing the day's work of trudging to all ends of Madrid. It also was very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful and location was fantastic. Definitely a great value for the price.

Great hotel for exploring Madrid
Excellent hotel in the heart of Madrid, close to two major Metro stations, and within a walk from many monuments and museums. Breakfast is available for extra 6 euros per person if not included in the booking. One negative thing about the hotel is that the room does not have any brochure to inform the guest about the available service or even how to call the reception or any of the other rooms.

Great location near metro and many attractions. A bit of noise from rhe street at night but not too bothersome. Do yourself a favor and get dessert at La Mallorquina at Sol... line is long but it moves fast.

Great Base to enjoy Madrid.
Great location. Value for money. Most places to visit are a short walking distance and very close to Metro access for further afield. Easy check in. Very clean and tidy. Due to location not for light sleepers as atmosphere from busy pedestrian road outside hotel front flows in the air..!!!

Can’t say I would recommend this hotel, but it is in a good location. Toilet seat was broken, hair dryer overheated and you had to wait 10 minutes for it to cool down, lots of water damage in the bathroom, the outlets have electrical issues (kept getting shocked when I plugged in my charger), lighting is really bad. Despite requesting no housekeeping, the cleaning staff came in and made the beds but didn’t take out the trash. Location is close to a good shopping area, two Red Bus Stops and a lot of dining options. 10-15 min waking distance for a couple of historical sites.
