Wonderful hotel in a tropical garden setting

Posted 28-Dec-2016
Pros: We particularly liked the art work, depicting traditional Madieran people and the decorations for Christmas had been tastefully done.
Cons: Coffee at breakfast could have been a little hotter.
Location: Excellent courtesy bus to Funchal, runs though out the day. Plenty to see & experience in Funchal for all ages. Great coastal walks
This hotel offers an oasis of calm and green, unlike many hotels we saw. Amazing views of the sea though the palm trees amidst the twitter of birds. Spacious rooms with a lovely balcony. The swimming pool complex was relaxing with the ability to swim from indoors to outdoors. Excellent breakfast with a very wide choice on offer. Staff were very friendly & helpful with excellent English and we also noticed German.

Pre Christmas break

Posted 05-Dec-2016
Pros: Location, Room and Price
Cons: little bit more generous with the tea and coffee in the room.
Location: Sheltered location, easy access to Funchal centre, lots of restaurants nearby and lots of travel places for booking day trips also nearby.
Hotel is very well kept, large rooms and has great facilities (that sadly we didn't utilize much). Location is sheltered and a short walk or easy bus journey into the harbour / shopping area. There is bus stop opposite for airport bus or local runs into town. The food in the hotel and nearby is extremely good, my wife is vegan and coped fine too. Can't fault anything, very enjoyable week and looking forward to returning.

Excellent hotel

Posted 21-Nov-2016 on Hotels
This hotel is a long established one on Madeira. We bought the discounted buffet dinner package, quite a saving of €7 per meal on the normal price. We did not use the al a carte restaurants but the food in the buffet was superb. Funchal old town is a thirty minute walk or the local bus stops outside the hotel or there is a free hotel shuttle bus into town that you need to book. Airport is only thirty minutes by taxi.

Exceeded expectations for a 4* hotel

Posted 20-Nov-2016
Pros: Spacious rooms, excellent standards of cleanliness and everything well considered e.g. 2 x hairdryers, mirrors well placed, efficient air con, quiet.
Cons: Sea View should mean sea view not lean over the balcony to see it
Location: Did not explore very much as this was chosen purely for relaxation - and it delivered. There was lots to offer on the island if that is what you want
Everything about the place is relaxing - so clean, so well looked after, no rush or crush to get to the pool - all very civilised. The gardens are superb and so well maintained - adding to the overall ambiance of a hotel that feels loved.

Beautiful Hotel

Posted 17-Nov-2016 on Hotels
The Hotel was excellent with lovely facilities and beautiful gardens and our room, as requested had a sea view. The surrounding area is full of large hotels and apartment blocks so a little soulless however a courtesy bus service runs during the day to the centre of Funchal which is a 40 minute walk away. Would defintely go back.

Peaceful

Posted 05-Nov-2016
Pros: Dinner in the Med restaurant and our sea view room.
Cons: The sun beds were too close together and the lack of moveable, adjustable sun umbrellas. Happy Hour service was so slow. Lack of atmosphere and enterta
Location: There are plenty of restaurants nearby but you have to be capable of climbing steep hills. Transport is necessary to reach the towns and marina.
The room was spacious quiet and comfortable. The food was good especially in the MED restaurant. Gardens are very attractive.

Beautiful Hotel with fabulous gardens

Posted 26-Oct-2016
Location: The hotel was virtually on the sea front with glorious views. It was possible to walk to Funchal in about 45 minutes.
We stayed for 12 nights in October & it was one of the best holidays we have had. The room was spotless and was immaculately cleaned every day. We had a sea view with a balcony, the room was air conditioned and alovely place to be. The breakfast catered for every taste, even down to providing sparkling wine. The pools were beautifully kept and the surrounding gardens made a stunning back drop. If I had to be critical about anything it would be that the sauna was an extra cost, and that the drinks and food were quite expensive. Thankfully happy hour provided half price drinks and a great gathering of people around the 2 bar areas. As there were numerous excellent restaurants within 500m it was easy to find somewhere to eat at amuch more reasonable cost.

I've ticked your boxes but I really can't be bothered to write an essay on it!
