Schöne Lage in hübschem Park

Posted 07-Jan-2016
Location: Funchal, gute Busanbindung.
Das Hotel ist sehr groß, aber gut gegliedert und dadurch weniger "klotzig" als andere Hotels. Die Zimmer-Lage zum Park brachte Ruhe und einen herrlichen Blick auf Palmen und Meer.

Pros: The beautiful garden setting, spacious clean comfortable rooms.
Location: The location is out of town, but there are lots of restraunts nearby, some local shops. Also a tourist information centre close by. Hotel bus.
Spent Christmas and new year at Porto mare and had a great time. The staff were friendly. Entertainment was varied, something for everyone. We were bed and breakfast. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Hot plates, cooked breakfast or cold meats, cheeses yoghurt and selection of fruit. Even sparkling wine for breakfast. Had problems charging my mobile and reception were more than happy to charge it for me. Nothing too much trouble.

Went to Funchal for a pre-Christmas break. Porto Mare Hotel was excellent - staff were particularly helpful and attentive in Reception and Restaurants. Would highly recommend Med Restaurant for dinner. Great holiday, only disappointment was Christmas lights turn-on being delayed until 8th December when we expected it to be on the 1st

Great pools and gardens

Posted 18-Nov-2015
Pros: Spa; pools and pool decks; the gym; the food. Definitely for vacationers (not business); and a great place to relax.
Cons: Nothing really. Just bear in mind if you're seeking nightlife or more of a singles scene, this is probably not the place for you.
Location: You'll be in hotel zone of course. Restaurants & markets very close by. To get to the city center & Zona Velha, hop on Centro Linha right in front.
Spent a long weekend here and actually made a point of scheduling time to spend at the hotel itself, since there is lot to enjoy--the gorgeous pools (I used 3 of them); the gym (I did use it); the spa (I had a very good massage plus a facial); the tropical gardens with view of the ocean; the restaurants (I had an excellent dinner at Alfama). There's also mini golf, ping pong, tennis--lots of opportunity for games, though I did not do any of that, and most people during my visit were swimming and sunbathing and having a drink or gelato at the poolside bars. But with all the entertainment options (also a kiddie pool), I can see how this would be a great place to take your children, though that's not how I was traveling. At this time of year (November), the clientele seemed to be mostly retirees but there were also plenty of vacationing couples and groups of friends in their 30s and 40s. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The ambiance is nice but casual and the decor is like that too--this is not a FANCY place; it's very clean but I would say it leans more towards "homey" rather than chic. There are some beautiful and peaceful spaces though, like the large indoor/outdoor pool near the spa, the gardens I already mentioned, and the restaurants are very attractive spaces (and you'd put on something nice to dine at Alfama, for example). The included breakfast presents a vast array of options, buffet style. Very good.

Excellent in every way

Posted 11-Nov-2015
The hotel was convenient for complementary bus to town and the other paid for bus services. The airport bus stop is just outside the hotel , 45 min bus drive to the airport(inexpensive). The hotel had everything we wanted and I would go there again most definately when we(husband and I) return for another holiday in Madeira. The staff were friendly and helpful. They went the extra mile and reception staff spoke many languages. The gave guidance on what buses to get and advice on what places we might like to see. we did it all on local buses and avoided expensive tours. We don't like to sit around and lay in the sun but you can do that in complete comfort also!

Eu recomendo e voltaria!!!!!
